Authors: Eganathan, P; Parida, Ajay
Abstract: A
micropropagation protocol has been developed for Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. using uninodal explants in Murashige and
Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with various concentrations of cytokinins,
benzyl adenine (BA) and kinetin (Kn). Shoot induction was observed in 1.0 mg/L
BA and 0.1 mg/L Kn after 25 d and more number of shoots was achieved in shoot
induction medium. Rooting was induced from shoots in
MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of
indole 3-butyric acid (IBA) and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). All the shoots
were rooted in 0.5 mg/L IBA and 0.2 mg/L
NAA after 25 d. Rooted plants were transferred to soil and successfully
acclimatized.

Authors: Gore, D G; Rathod, M K; Soni, V; Rai, M M
Abstract: Salmonella
typhi, a known human pathogen registering multiple
drug resistance, causes majority of endemic cases in developing nations. S. typhi genome was marked with the
1220 ORFs for hypothetical proteins. Enzyme coding probability was searched in
hypothetical proteins using web tools like CDD-BLAST, InterProScan, Pfam and
COGs. Study sorted out 213 proteins as enzyme coding and for these proteins
tertiary structures were predicted based on the homology modeling. About 89
structures were modeled for functional proteins and such a deciphered structure-function
relationship could help in detail understanding of regulatory network of S. typhi and establishing new function
in uncharacterized regions.

Authors: Singh, P K; Singh, S V; Singh, M K; Saxena, V K; Singh, A V; Sohal, J S
Abstract: Present investigation was
aimed to analyze the polymorphism of Class II DRB gene region of MHC, using PCR-RFLP with PstI and TaqI restriction
enzymes, in endangered Jamunapari goat breed. A total of 203 Jamunapari goats
(male-77 & female-126) were included in the study to know the distribution
of different genotypes in the population. PstI
revealed three genotypes, i.e., PP, Pp and pp, with genotype frequency as
0.054, 0.222 and 0.724, respectively. TaqI
also showed TT, Tt and tt genotypes with frequencies of 0.241, 0.527 and 0.232,
respectively. The frequencies of P and p alleles were 0.165 and 0.835, while
frequencies of T and t alleles were 0.505 and 0.495, respectively. Marked
variations were observed in the distribution of PstI and TaqI generated
genotypes in the Jamunapari goat population.
