Abstract: The whole plant of &lt;i&gt;Phyllanthus amarus &lt;/i&gt;Linn.&#xD;
has afforded new &lt;i&gt;seco&lt;/i&gt;sterols&lt;i&gt; &lt;/i&gt;named as amarosterol-A characterized&#xD;
as 13,14-&lt;i&gt;seco&lt;/i&gt;-stigma 5(6), 14(15)-diene-3-α-ol &lt;b&gt;1&lt;/b&gt;, and amarosterol-B&#xD;
characterized as 13 ,14-&lt;i&gt;seco-stigma &lt;/i&gt;9(11), 14(15)-diene-3-α-ol &lt;b&gt;2&lt;/b&gt;.&#xD;
&#xD;
Their structures have been elucidated on the&#xD;
basis of spectral and chemical studies.

12,15-trihydroxy-13(14)-octadecanoate &lt;b&gt;3&lt;/b&gt; have been&#xD;
&#xD;
isolated from the leaves of &lt;i&gt;Artemisia&#xD;
annua. &lt;/i&gt;Their structures have been established on the basis of their spectral&#xD;
and chemical studies.

Abstract: Amoenylin &lt;b&gt;6&lt;/b&gt;, a dihydrostilbene from&#xD;
&lt;i&gt;Dendrobium amoenum &lt;/i&gt;has been synthesised from sy ringaldehyde &lt;b&gt;1&lt;/b&gt;, in&#xD;
three steps with an&lt;i&gt; &lt;/i&gt;overall yield of 40%. The spectral data of synthetic&#xD;
&lt;b&gt;6&lt;/b&gt; are in good&lt;i&gt; &lt;/i&gt;agreement with those of natural product. Amoenylin &lt;b&gt;6&lt;/b&gt;&#xD;
shows&lt;i&gt; &lt;/i&gt;weak antibacterial activity.
