Abstract: A study of utility of Journals articles requested through inter-library cooperation (ILC) in the Pune bio-medical library consortium shows that a large number of journals are requested through ILC and half of the requests were found in the articles indexed in MEDLINE database. Title: Library departmentalization: Their influence on publication output among librarians in Nigerian universities Authors: Edem, U. Selong; Atinmo, Morayo I. Abstract: A questionnaire survey of 202 librarians from 28 university libraries in Nigeria was conducted to determine the influence of various library departments on publication output among librarians in Nigerian universities over a period of 1985-1992. To assess publication output, a one way analysis of variance statistics (ANOVA) was used to compare librarians from seven major library departments. The results of empirical analysis indicated that the librarians who work in university librarian's department produced the highest quantity of academic publications, followed by librarians who work in subject/college libraries and cataloguing departments. The' librarians in research library departments produced the highest quantity of work-related publications, followed by librarians in subject/college libraries and acquisition departments. Title: Citation analysis of 'Annals of Library Science and Documentation' Authors: Mete, Mahendra V.; Deshmukh, P.P. Abstract: Citation analysis of 1824 citations from 202 articles published in Annals of Library Science & Documentation, Vol. 31 to 40, (1984-93) shows that journals are most cited form of communication amongst the library and information scientists and the source journal is the most cited publication. Bradford's Law of Scattering is testified with the journal citations and it was found that 23. 13% of total journals could meet 67% of the requirements. The most devoted core periodicals in library and information science (LIS) have been found out and listed according to productivity. The half life of LIS literature is found to be 8 and 12 years for journals and books respectively. The study reveals that library professionals most frequently refer to the journals in which they write. Page(s): 11-25
