package Mini-Micro CDS/ISIS has been used in the creation of data base for the&#xD;
Directory of Participating Institutions for National Union Catalogue of&#xD;
Scientific Serials in India (NUCSSI). Describes step by step the file&#xD;
development and sorting of records in the data base. Different sort keys are&#xD;
given in the worksheet along with the formatting required for the various print&#xD;
outputs. Specifies the recency of the data received from various institutions&#xD;
leading to the updating of the NUCSSI data base. Some problems faced during the&#xD;
work are mentioned.&lt;/span&gt;

study conducted with a sample of 109 research scholars of three universities of&#xD;
Rajasthan using questionnaire method, is an attempt to identify the impression&#xD;
of scholars towards the adequacy of library resources, their use of the&#xD;
library, and their views on Library services. The findings of the study are:&#xD;
that attitudes reveal scholars spent more than 5 hours per day in a library;&#xD;
majority of the users visit the library 1 to 4 times a week, there is&#xD;
significant difference in the attitude of scholars towards the use of&#xD;
periodicals in different universities; scholars view library resources and&#xD;
services as being inadequate compared to their needs; level of awareness&#xD;
towards: the existing facilities are low; scholars at all three universities&#xD;
are not adequately involved in utilizing and improving the resources and&#xD;
services of the libraries.&lt;/span&gt;

study was undertaken to find out high demand core journals in life sciences&#xD;
through the analysis of document requests received by Insdoc during 1980-85. It&#xD;
was found that 155 identified core journals in the life sciences could satisfy&#xD;
a majority of document demand in this field. The first 50 journals from core&#xD;
list could satisfy as much as 51.85% of demand. The core list also compared&#xD;
favorably with the Tank lists of British Library Document Supply Centre and&#xD;
Science Citation Index (JCR 1984) as well.&lt;/span&gt;
