in Library and Information Science starts with master's degree programme with
the objective of educating & training the personnel to function in senior
professional capacities in libraries and information centres. This article
analyses the M. Lib. Sc. dissertation works submitted up to 1983 to Delhi University
& Punjab University
since their inception. Strong and weak areas of research in terms of subject
and research trends in the field have been dealt with. Further, discusses the
need to communicate outcome of the research to the actual users.</span>

the different aspects of a national mineral database. The first part deals with
the theoretical aspects of the database and studies various methods employed
for codification and formatting the data. The second part deals with the actual
implementation and its use to answer various queries. For demonstration DMS-II a
Burroughs package on data base management was used.</span>

the results of a project undertaken to study the administrative structures of
Nigerian college of education libraries and the powers and authorities of their
head librarians. A mail questionnaire was used in data collection. The results
show that in most colleges the library is accorded the same status as an
academic department and the College Librarian is directly accountable to the
Principal or Provost. Most college librarians have inadequate executive powers
and this has adverse effects on the quality of library services in the
colleges. Suggestions are made for improving the situation.</span>
