Abstract: &lt;span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:&#xD;
115%;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" roman";="" mso-ansi-language:en-us;mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="" lang="EN-US"&gt;Investigates&#xD;
the increase in the number of authors per paper and the degree of collaboration&#xD;
(trend towards multiple authorship) in the Phytopathology literature over a&#xD;
period of 50 years (1931-81). The frequency of single author papers decreases&#xD;
from 77.9% in 1931 to 29.62% in 1981 and the frequency of multiple author&#xD;
papers (two and more than two) increased from 22.1% in 1931 to 70.38% in 1981.&#xD;
Over the same period the average number of authors per paper increased from&#xD;
1.29 to 2.14. The degree of research collaboration has also increased from 0.22&#xD;
to 0.70.&lt;/span&gt;

enumerates the services rendered by Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG)&#xD;
library. Evaluates the users' reaction towards these services. Presents the&#xD;
results of a survey conducted for ascertaining the information needs and habits&#xD;
of geoscientists. Publishing habits of the geoscientists of WIHG have also been&#xD;
ascertained. Concludes with some suggestions for meeting the information&#xD;
requirements of geoscientist.&lt;/span&gt;

time series study is attempted to identify the development of the library in&#xD;
different periods. Variation in library budget and its allocation on different&#xD;
elements are calculated to find out the adequacy of library finance. Per capita&#xD;
expenditure of a, volume user and service are calculated to measure the adequacy&#xD;
and efficiency of library services. An attempt is also made to estimate the&#xD;
impact of the library services on the research output of the institution.&lt;/span&gt;

been outlined. Certain measures for expediting efficient library service with&#xD;
minimum cost have been put forth.&lt;/span&gt;
