an account of the Institute of Scientific Information of the Academy&#xD;
of Sciences of Moscow. Describes (1)the routing of the periodicals&#xD;
from the Accession Section through the Distribution, Language, Bibliography,&#xD;
and Translation Section to the Technical Section; and (2) the working, the&#xD;
staff structure, and the functions of the Departments of Express Information,&#xD;
Translation, Technical Information to certain ministries. Makes suggestions for&#xD;
the improvement of the organization in the Insdoc for the work of translation&#xD;
and abstracting. Stresses the need for translators being given facilities for&#xD;
acquiring knowledge of subjects for translation and subject-specialists meeting&#xD;
periodically for discussion and for the Translation Department maintaining an&#xD;
Index of Technical Terminology.&lt;/span&gt;

for the idea plane and the nine for the notational plane. States the seven&#xD;
steps in the work of classifying. Explains how the' Colon Classification is analytico-synthetic.&#xD;
Gives examples of classifying by that scheme. Describes the structure of the Colon schedules for&#xD;
Medicine. Defines depth classification. Describes the work in progress to fit the&#xD;
Colon Classification for depth classification and documentation work. Explains&#xD;
the telescoping of the schedules for systems and specials in medicine, and for&#xD;
organs. Gives examples of phase and inter-facet relation. Indicates the future&#xD;
work to be done.&lt;/span&gt;
