Specifically, a lumped mass heat transfer model is developed for predicting the
initial heating-up time in industrial hard-chrome plating baths. This model offers
a rigorous technique for the accurate selection of heater units of an optimal
power rating, for applications in the electroplating industry.

potentiality of fly ashes from coal-fired power plants has been investigated as
heterogeneous catalyst in oxidative decolourization of aqueous solutions of
several reactive, acid and chrome dyes, using H2O2 in the
temperature range 300-323 K. It is observed that the catalytic activity of fly

reaction medium. For an initial dye concentration of 100 mg/L and H2O2
of 5.2 x 10-2 kmol/m3, complete decolourization is
possible within I500, 900 and 600s of all reactive, acid and chrome dyes,
respectively, at 313 K and pH 3.75±0.15 using 2% (w/v) fly ash
loading. The extent of deactivation of catalytic effect of fly ash depends on
total contact time, characteristics of fly ash surface and specific dye used.
