drug, primaquine, on the status of erythrocyte reduced glutathione (GSH) and&#xD;
glutathione reductase (GR) activity in albino rats (Charles foster) are&#xD;
investigated. GSH levels and GR activity in primaquine treated rats are&#xD;
significantly (p&lt;0.001) reduced. Apparently oxidation of GSH and the&#xD;
reactions which maintain the GSH level are altered with primaquine treatment.&lt;/span&gt;

the extraction of Fe (III) with 2-ethyl hexyl phosphonic acid mono 2-ethyl&#xD;
hexyl ester was carried out. In this method, the stoichiometry of extracted&#xD;
species of Fe (III) was determined by slope analysis method. The extraction&#xD;
proceeds with cation exchange mechanism and the extracted species is of the&#xD;
form FeR&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;.3HR. Further, temperature dependence of the extraction&#xD;

used in the direct determination of water hardness in tap-water has been&#xD;
fabricated using Mg (II)-&lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"&gt;N&lt;/i&gt;-phenylbenzohydroxamate&#xD;
complex in the membrane. The electrode characteristics exhibited almost equal&#xD;
selectivities for Ca&lt;sup&gt;2+&lt;/sup&gt; and Mg&lt;sup&gt;2+&lt;/sup&gt; which enabled the&#xD;
simultaneous determination of both the ions. The results have been compared&#xD;
with EDTA titrimetry.&lt;/span&gt;
