4-methoxy-2[H/substituted-4'-(N',N-disubstituted amino)phenylazo]benzothiazoles(Va-m)
were prepared by coupling diazotized 2-amino-4-methoxybenzothiazole (II) with
various substituted aniline derivatives (lVa-m) and their dyeing performance on
polyester fibres was assessed. All the compounds (Va-m) showed good
substantivity for polyester fibres and gave bright dyeing with moderate to good
light fastness and good to excellent fastness to washing, perspiration, rubbing
and sublimation.</span>

fibre is the third largest consumable man-made fibre in the world and is mainly
used as a substitute of wool. It competes with wool because of its properties
like high elasticity and voluminosity. Modifications of acrylic fibres have
been tried to make it suitable for different applications. This paper presents
a comprehensive review of the acrylic fibres modified in recent past for
different end uses.</span>
