azo dyes containing the pyrazolone moiety as a chelating system were prepared&#xD;
and applied to wool and polyester/wool blend as disperse dyes. Metallization of&#xD;
these dyes on the dyed fabric was carried out using chromium acetate, cobalt&#xD;
acetate and copper acetate solution to form the metal complex inside the&#xD;
fibres. The metalized dyes showed better light and wash fastness than the&#xD;
original dyes and moderate to good perspiration and rubbing fastness.&lt;/span&gt;

yarns possess slightly higher flexural rigidity and elastic recovery than the&#xD;

recovery hardly changes with twist factor and rotor speed but decreases with&#xD;

(&lt;b&gt;Va&lt;/b&gt;) and 2-(benzimidazol-2-yl)- 3,4-dihydroxy-5-(4-nitrophenyl)thiophene&#xD;
(&lt;b&gt;Vb&lt;/b&gt;) were synthesized from S-(4-nitrobenzyl)thioacetic acid (&lt;b&gt;II&lt;/b&gt;)&#xD;
by condensation with diethyl oxalate followed by subsequent treatment with&#xD;
2-aminophenol (&lt;b&gt;IVa&lt;/b&gt;) and 1,2-diaminobenzene (&lt;b&gt;IVb&lt;/b&gt;) respectively.&#xD;
The compounds &lt;b&gt;Va&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Vb&lt;/b&gt; were reduced with zinc-acetic acid to&#xD;
corresponding amino derivatives &lt;b&gt;VIa&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;VIb&lt;/b&gt; and the diazo&#xD;
components derived from &lt;b&gt;VIa&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;VIb&lt;/b&gt; were coupled with a variety&#xD;
of coupling components (&lt;b&gt;VIIIa-f&lt;/b&gt;) to result 5-(4-arylazo/hetarylazo-phenyl)-2-&#xD;
(benzoxazol-2-yl/benzimidazol-2-yl)-3,4-dihydroxythiophenes (&lt;b&gt;IXa-f&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Xa-f&lt;/b&gt;).&#xD;
The compounds &lt;b&gt;IXa-f&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Xa-f&lt;/b&gt; when applied on polyester fibres&#xD;
gave yellow to red shades with poor to good pick-up, moderate light fastness&#xD;
and good sublimation fastness.&lt;/span&gt;

bisazo dyes, 6,6'-bis[3-(3-/4-arylazophenyl)-2-methylquinazolin-4(3&lt;i&gt;H&lt;/i&gt;)-ones],&#xD;
have been prepared by coupling 6,6'-bis[3-(3-/4-aminophenyl)-2-methylquinazolin-4(3&lt;i&gt;H&lt;/i&gt;)-one]&#xD;
with N-substituted and N N-disubstituted derivatives of anilines and their&#xD;
dyeing performance on nylon, polyester and cellulose triacetate fibres has been&#xD;
assessed. The dyes show fair to very good fastness to light and very good to&#xD;
excellent fastness to washing, rubbing, perspiration and sublimation.&lt;/span&gt;
