for the determination of percentage of medullated fibres is more precise as&#xD;
compared to the projection microscope method; 300-400 fibres should be observed&#xD;
for accurate assessment of the percentage of medullated fibres from wools of&#xD;
different qualities.&lt;/span&gt;

characteristics of Ram bouiliet, Ramb. × Chokla and Chokla wool fibres in water&#xD;
have been compared after dividing the fibres into five diameter interval&#xD;
groups. Stresses at 2 and 30% extension and the Hookean slope differ&#xD;
significantly in groups and breeds, whereas stresses at 15% extension and&#xD;
breaking stress differ significantly among the diameter groups. There is no&#xD;
significant effect of breeds and groups on breaking extension.&lt;/span&gt;

containing up to 1.5% carbon black have been prepared using two different&#xD;
methods, viz. (1) incorporating carbon black in disperse form during&#xD;
polymerization and melt spinning, and (2) blending the chips containing 1.5%&#xD;
carbon black, prepared as in (1), with chips without any carbon black (blank)&#xD;
and melt spinning. The filaments thus produced were examined for their&#xD;
structure and properties. It has been observed that the samples prepared by&#xD;
method (1) are more homogeneous and have more uniform properties.&lt;/span&gt;

speed spooler and the BC high speed warping machine have been compared with the&#xD;
Rotoconer winding machine and the Cimmco high speed warping machine&#xD;
respectively in respect of their effect on weaving performance by carrying out&#xD;
large scale mill trials. The BC spooler shows better weaving performance than&#xD;
the Rotoconer winding machine due to the higher clearing efficiency of BC snick&#xD;
plates. The type of warping machine does not influence the weaving performance.&lt;/span&gt;
