Authors: Sarma, S B S S
Abstract: Antenna validation in general, is a cumbersome process involving flights over the antenna site using an airborne transmitter. The sun's (point source at meter wavelengths) enhanced radiation during the disturbed periods has successfully been made use of to validate the riometer antenna power pattern to make it simpler.

Authors: Sharma, N K; Yadav, R S; Agrawal, S P
Abstract: The results of an analysis of the associations of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) with solar flares and coronal holes are presented. The above associations are examined by assuming that the cosmic ray response to the CMEs related with solar flares and coronal holes should be different, and found that the association of CMEs and solar flare is insignificant.

Authors: Varma, V K Meena; Nayar, S R Prabhakaran; Somayajulu, V V
Abstract: The behaviour of the fluctuations in the horizontal component of geomagnetic field (H) during two magnetic storms has been studied by selecting stations in different latitudes around the globe. The fluctuating component in the dawn-dusk electric field and Dst are also compared with the H component fluctuation during these events. A strong fluctuating component with a period of about 3-4 h is discernible the interplanetary magnetlc field and the geomagnetic field variations.

Authors: Singh, Darshan; Gurm, H S; Singh, Manjit
Abstract: Results of the daytime E-region and nighttime F-region drifts obtained by similar fade method over Patiala are presented for the period 1987-90. The E-region drift speed is highest (77 ms-1) during spring and lowest (59 ms-1) in summer, while the F-region drift speed is highest (82 ms-1) during summer and minimum (61 ms-1) in winter. Drift speed is slightly lower during 1989-90 in comparison to the year 1987-88 for all seasons. Significant diurnal variations of the E- and F-region drifts speed and direction are also observed. Drift speed and direction observed over Patiala are comparable to the observations at low and midlatitude stations, but not consistent with the observations at stations situated within the equatorial electrojet region and at high latitudes.
