Title: Distribution of trace elements in the leaves of mangroves
Authors: Bhosale, Leela J
Abstract: Five trace elements from the leves of 9 mangroves (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk; Bruguiera gymnorrhiza Lamk; Ceriops tagal Perr, C.B. Rob; Avicennia officinalis L; Lumnitzera racemosa Willd; Aegiceras corniculatum (L) Blanco; Acanthus ilicifolius L; Aeluropus lagopoides L; and Clerodendron inerme L.) are estimated. Manganese is comparatively more while the quantities of zinc and molybdenum, in many cases, are very near. Cobalt is in lowest amount. It is suggested that the range of variation in the levels of trace elements is more because of the specificity of the plant for a particular element rather than the response of plant to edaphic factors.

Authors: Rani, K. Ijsha; Rao, K Srinivasa
Abstract: Cytomorphology of immature, mature, and senile erythrocytes and leucocytes of G. filamentous has been studied using Giemsa stained smears. The blood contains nucleated erythrocytes and leucocytes which include non-granulocyte lymphocytes (59.45%), thrombocytes (28.2%), monocytes (4.6%), macrophages (0.3%), and all the 3 types of granulocytes (7.45%), viz. neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils. Abnormally high percentage of immature erythrocytes, observed in samples collected in March 1977, may be due to environment stress or pollution. Polymorphy of thrombocytes and phagocytic activity of macrophage cell are noteworthy features. Cytometric measurements of various cell types are made to calculate the nucleo-cytoplasmic (N/C) ratio.

Authors: Mansuri, A P
Abstract: Glycogen content was estimated in different muscles of 4 commercially important marine fishes Johnius vogleri (Bkr), Megalaspis cordyla (L.), Arius maculatus (Thunberg) and Ilisha megaloptera (Swainson), of Saurashtra Coast, Gujarat, India for 12 months. Well marked seasonal variations were observed in the level of glycogen; high level was noticed mostly during August to October. Seasonal glycogen changes appear to be influenced by maturation cycle and depletion (spent stage) of gonad.

Abstract: Distribution and density of C. clypeomorus at different stations on the Visakhapatnam Coast, Andhra Pradesh, India and at different tide levels are reported. The characters of the shell, operculum, jaws, radula and foot are given. The moving habits of the snail and the organisms associated with C. clypeomorus are described.
