Title: Haematology of ten pounder, Elops saurus (L.), a euryhaline fish from Visakhapatnam Harbour Authors: Rani, K Usha; Rao, K Srinivasa Abstract: Haematological parameters like total RBC count (2.2 million/mm³), total WBC count (0.175 million/mm³), haemoglobin content (7.84 g/100 ml) and differential counts of various blood cell types were studied. Title: Effect of low oxygen concentration on respiratory movements of Balanus tintinnabulum tintinnabulum (L.) Authors: Rao, D G V Prasada; Rao, Y Prabhakara Abstract: At low oxygen concentrations (3, 2.5, 2 and 1.5 ml O₂/litre), hypoventilation has been observed in the respiratory movements of B. tintinnabulum tintinnabulum. A critical oxygen concentration is found at 3.5 ml O₂/litre below which the respiratory movements show a decline. Extremely low oxygen concentrations (1.5 ml O₂/litre) induce anoxic arrest of the respiratory movements with the complete closure of the operculum. Page(s): 115-117
