Title: PUBLISHING TRENDS OF INDIAN CHEMICAL SCIENTISTS: A BIBLIOMETRIC STUDY Authors: Kannappanavar, B.U; Swamy, Chidananda; M, Vijay Kumar Abstract: The present study highlights the authorship trend and collaborative research in chemistry in India during 1996- 2000.The study found that team research is preferred in the field of chemistry rather than solo research. The degree of collaboration is calculated and found to be 0.76. The degree of collaboration varies from year to year and is found to be 0.72 to 0.83. Average number of authors per paper has increased from 7.52 to 8.39. Page(s): 39-41

Title: INDIAN JOURNAL OF PURE & APPLIED MATHEMATICS: A BIBLIOMETRIC STUDY Authors: Narang, Asha Abstract: Bibliometric analysis of 8396 citations appended to 737 articles published in the Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Mathematics, volumes 29 to 33 during the years 1998- 2002 and 470 citations appended to 70 articles published in the maiden volume 1 published in 1970 has been carried out to observe the distribution of contributions, authorship pattern, citation analysis, geographical distribution of contributions and number of pages used in each volume. A comparative study of articles published in five volumes vis-a-vis those in volume 1 has been made. Results indicate that the number of contributions is increasing in successive volumes. Highest number of papers have been written by joint authors. The most cited documents are articles from the research joumals. The contributions in this journal from India and other countries are almost equal. Among the Indian states, Uttar Pradesh is the top contributor whereas among the Indian universities/institutes, University of Delhi is at the top. At the International level, India is the top contributor followed by China. The growth and popularity of this journal is found to be showing an upward trend. Page(s): 28-38

The reports in digital form are generated within the organisation and the data downloaded from INTERNET are also included in the database. Title: PRODUCTOMETRIC STUDY OF SCIENTISTS OF ICAR'S NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR SOYBEAN (NRCS) Authors: Kumar, Surendra; Kumar, S Abstract: Information personnel conduct studies on citation and bibliometric analysis for knowing the extent of utility of joumals, conference proceedings and other literature. In this study, productometric analysis of contributions of National Research Centre for Soybean, Indore, has been carried out for the period 1987 - 2001 in terms of number of research articles produced by its scientists. The study is based on a chronological documentation list prepared for the purpose along with author and subject indexes. Also analyses average number of papers per year, types of documents publishing the papers along with names of the journals, subject and language distribution. Authorship pattern is also studied in this paper. It also gives method of calculating score of individual authors, calculates their scores and rank orders. Concludes with strengths and weaknesses of soybean research in India. Page(s): 11-21
