Authors: Sur, Debjani; Bera, Subhas Chandra; Chattopadhyay, Nitin; Patra, Goutam Kumar; Datta, Dipankar
Abstract: Results of some preliminary steady state, time-resolved and theoretical studies on the photo physics of 2.3-dihydro-2,2,4 -trimethyl-1<em>H</em>-1,5-benzodiazepine (L), an anti-convulsant agent, are reported here, Although L is weakly fluorescing in all the solvents studied, its luminescence is highly solvent-sensitive. It seems that the protic solvents have an important role in the fluorescence behaviour of L. Participation of the methylene hydrogens in the solvent assisted proton transfer has been proposed.

Abstract: New results on the non-equilibrium growth patterns of silver have been reported in a batch reactor using cells with different electrodic arrangements. Scanned picture of silver aggregate has been analysed and fractal dimension calculated bybox counting method. A transition from dendritic to a net like morphology is observed on addition of copper nitrate. Cathode potential changes with time have been monitored in batch and flow reactors and oscillations of small amplitude observed. Next area plots indicate that oscillations are periodic

Authors: Srinivasan, C; Viswanathan, B; Mulla, S A R; Choudhary, V R
Abstract: The oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) has been studied on LnBa2Cu3O7-x (Ln = Sm,Dy,Y) with and without steam in the feed. It has been observed that the presence of steam enhances the C2 selectivity. The samarium containing compound is found to be a better system among these three compounds because of the higher formation of BaCO3 during the reaction thus increasing the basicity of the system.

Authors: Bakshi, Mandeep Singh
Abstract: Densities of &beta;-cyclodextrin+18-crown-6 ether + water (Cyc+CR+W) and sucrose+18-crown-6 ether+water (SUC+CR+W) ternary systems have been estimated at 25&deg;C. From densities. mean apparent molar volumes of CYC+CR(Vfcc) and SUC+CR(Vfcc) in W,CR, (Vf.cr in CYC+W and SUC+W, and of CYC (Vfcyc) and SUC (Vfsuc) in CR+W in each composite mixture have been evaluated. Variation of Vf,cc &nbsp;Vf,sc, Vf,cr &nbsp;and Vf,suc &nbsp;with respect to the respective molality shows the existence of intermolecular interactions.
