Abstract: The field of wound care has continuously improved by using techniques and materials to promote healing and minimize
complications. A key factor, in this progress is the utilization of polymers and cutting-edge biomaterials. In this examination, we
explore the role and impact of these substances on wound management practices. We delve into the characteristics of polymers like
chitosan, alginate, and collagen which are derived from living organisms and offer advantages in terms of compatibility with the
body's ability to break down naturally and suitability for various wound applications. Additionally, we investigate emerging
biomaterials such as nanofibers, hydrogels, and bioactive glass highlighting their potential for delivering drugs in a controlled
manner and influencing the healing environment within wounds. The incorporation of these materials into wound care has shown
results including healing processes, reduced formation of scar tissue, and improved infection control. Despite these advancements,
our review acknowledges existing challenges such as expanding production capacity standardizing products across the industry and
overcoming obstacles in implementation. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the state of the art in wound care
strategies while also offering insights into potential solutions and future directions, for research and application.

Abstract: According to World Health Organization data, various forms of cancer cause around 10 million deaths each year. Nearly 2 million new colon and rectal cancer cases were detected in 2020, making it the second greatest cause of cancer death. Aside from the harmful effects of various chemotherapeutic agents, a special difficulty for treating and eradicating these diseases is tumor resistance to existing anticancer medications and undesired side effects of chemotherapy against healthy cells and tissue. Chalcones are precursors for the synthesis of flavonoids and other compounds with a heterocyclic structure. The biological activities of this category of chemicals include antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, and antiproliferative properties. In the current study, we therefore examined the antitumor and apoptotic effects of chalcone 5 on mouse colon carcinoma cell line CT-26. Chalcone 5 caused the inner mitochondrial apoptotic pathway to be triggered in CT-26 cells by inducing apoptosis, disrupting the potential of the mitochondrial membrane and causing the release of cytochrome c into the cytosol. Based on results obtained in this study, chalcone 5 may be recommended as a potential promising anti-cancer candidate for future in vivo research studies utilizing experimental animals.

Abstract: L-glutaminase (EC 3.5.1.2) is an enzyme grouped under amidohydrolase and a member of serine-dependent β-lactamases
& penicillin-binding proteins. The present study focuses on increasing the yield of L-glutaminase from marine bacteria
isolated from coastal regions of Gujarat. Using enrichment culture technique marine samples were enriched and
physicochemical analysis was done. A total of 12 bacteria isolated from Gujarat coasts were screened for L-glutaminase
biosynthesis. Out of 12, most potent one isolate B-15-9-2 was selected for cultural, biochemical, and molecular
identification by 16S rRNA analysis, which reveals the nearest homolog is Halomonas hydrothermalis with 99.87%
similarity. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of Halomonas hydrothermalis as L-glutaminase producer
from Gujarat coasts. Further study deals with the optimization of medium components for higher yield of L-glutaminase by
one variable at a time & response surface methodology. There was a significant increase in the L-glutaminase activity about
3.4-fold from 29 ± 0.8 U/mL to 98.95 ± 0.5 U/mL upon media optimization via statistical method.

Authors: Yingying, Deng; Shicheng, Hu; Yingchun, Jiao
Abstract: In this study, the regulatory mechanism of exopolysaccharides from Agaricus bitorguis (Quél.) Sacc. Chaidam was
investigated using Lycium ruthenicum Murr. Anthocyanins during cell growth and polysaccharide synthesis. The
anthocyanin composition of Lycium ruthenicum Murr. was investigated by UHPLC-HRMS method, the anthocyanin
derivatives of petunia ligand and proanthocyanidins, which was the main anthocyanin substance, and the results showed
that the effect of LRA extract was better than that of the single component standard. Based on metabolomics, we have
identified 2522 metabolites, including linoleic acid, α-linolenic acid and oleic acid were significantly up-regulated, and
stearic acid, 16-hydroxypalmitic acid and 10-undecylenic acid were significantly down-regulated compared with the
blank group. According to transcriptomics results and KEGG enrichment analysis, differential genes are mainly
distributed in pathways such as unsaturated fatty acid metabolism and α-linolenic acid metabolism. By up-regulating
stearyl CoA desaturase and acyl CoA oxidase, the content of α-linolenic acid, linoleic acid, and oleic acid increased the
conversion of saturated fatty acids to unsaturated fatty acids, improved the fluidity of cell membranes, thereby enhancing
the growth of ABSC mycelium.
