Abstract: Natural products, renowned for their healing properties, are significant in every culture and have been practised for ages. These diverse traditional remedies, spread across various regions, are crucial in advancing humanity. In East Asian societies, conventional healing methods enjoy popularity, contrasting with the deep exploration of traditional Chinese medicine compared to traditional Indian medicine, especially in understanding their mechanisms and effects. These remedies, typically a blend of multiple herbs, target numerous cells, unlike allopathic medicine, which mainly focuses on one or two targets. Tools in network pharmacology offer extensive insights into multi-target interactions, proving invaluable in the study of herbal combinations. This analysis endeavours to uncover the potential within Ayurvedic formulations and present a global outlook on Ayurvedic research. Over time, the world has grappled with viral infections affecting the respiratory system. The study outlines the potential of Osmium tenuiflorum (Tulsi) as a remedy for Virus-induced Influenza. Initial virtual screenings suggest that Apigenin exhibits antiviral properties by influencing targets like CFTR and Akt. This review aims to draw the scientific community's attention in that direction by highlighting Ayurvedic formulations.

Abstract: Osteoarthritis is a prevalent degenerative arthritic disorder that affects the global population. A non-surgical treatment which provides symptomatic relief can help most of the patients to avoid surgeries. Clinically it is similar to sandhigatavata, presenting shulapradhanavedana, sandhisopha with ‗vatapurnadruthisparsa’ and restricted movements of the joint. According to Acharya Sushruta, treatment of sandhigatavata includes sneha, upanaha, agnikarma, bandhana and unmardana. Since pain is the cardinal symptom of this condition, two procedures among the aforesaid treatment principle were selected for comparing its effect in alleviating pain. So, snigdha agnikarma which is indicated in diseases affecting sandhi, asthi, sira and snayu, and unmardana or traditional marma manipulation were studied. The study was a quasi-experimental clinical trial done on the 0th, 7th and 14th day in groups A and B respectively, with 22 participants in each group. All the 44 participants were recruited through purposive sampling, from patients with symptoms of OA knee registered in the O.P.D and I.P.D. of Shalyatantra, P.N.N.M. Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Cheruthuruthy, satisfying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Traditional marma manipulation and snigdha agnikarma were administered in groups A and B respectively. The clinical assessment was based on the parameters; pain, stiffness and physical function using WOMAC scale; swelling, crepitus and tenderness by grading scales and range of motion using goniometric readings. The parameters mentioned in the assessment criteria were assessed on 0th, 14th, 28th and 42nd day. The results were statistically analyzed and it was found to be statistically significant in reducing all the parameters in both groups, but no significant difference between the effect of both procedures was noted. Thus, both interventions were found to be equally effective in terms of overall treatment effect.

Abstract: According to the 2019 Global Burden of Disease report, 34.3 million people in India suffer from asthma, making up 13.09% of the worldwide burden. A proper solution to this problem is still elusive in modern medicine. As a result, the world is anticipating certain traditional treatments in this area. For bronchial asthma, Unani doctors administer both single medications and several Unani formulations. One such frequently recommended Unani medicine is Habb-e-Hindi-Zeeqi. In the current study, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Aligarh, conducted a clinical, biochemical, and haematological evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy and safety of the Unani compound medicine Habb-e-Hindi-Zeeqi during the years 2021-2022. Out of the patients who visited the outpatient department (OPD), a total of 26 patients were chosen. For four weeks, the patients received one tablet (125 mg) of the Unani compound medicine Habb-e-Hindi-Zeeqi orally twice a day after meals. The results were statistically assessed using Dennett's test one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). According to the current study, the Unani compound medicine is safe, non-toxic, and highly successful in treating bronchial asthma. More research in a large population is advised.

Authors: Madireddy, Prathyusha; Wadhwa, Sheetu; Singh, Saurabh; Aligireddy, Neelima
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to formulate and evaluate the polyherbal asava for the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The asava was formulated by taking reference from the ancient literature to cure the disease which has a complex pathophysiology. Herbs such as Salix caprea L., Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels., Saraca asoca (Roxb.) Willd., Terminalia arjuna (Roxb.) Wight and Arn, Madhuca indica J.F. Gmel., Woodfordia fruticosa (L.) Kurz, Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume, Santalum album L., Saccharum officinarum L. (jaggery) were used in preparation of asava, using madhuca, woodfordia and jaggery as fermentating agents, and santalum and cinnamomum as additives. The physicochemical, phytochemical, quantification of markers by HPTLC were performed for the crude herbs. The physicochemical evaluations for the crude herbs were performed and complied with the standards. The phytochemical analysis of the crude drugs revealed the presence of various phytoconstituents. The quantification of markers in the crude drugs and optimized formulation by HPTLC was found as S. caprea (0.16, 0.86%), S. cumini (0.11, 0.60%), S. asoca (0.04, 0.29%), T. arjuna (0.008, 0.08%), M. indica (0.002, 0.02%). Five formulations, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 were prepared and evaluated for organoleptic parameters, pH, viscosity, refractive index, alcohol content, sugar content, total solids, total acidity by standard methods. Amongst all the formulations F1 was considered optimum. Biostatistical analysis was performed by using one-way ANOVA and found that there is no significant difference between the evaluation parameters. Heavy metal analysis, microbiological analysis and accelerated stability studies of the optimized formulation were performed and found stable.
