Abstract: The inhibition effect of N - (2-mercaptophenyl) –N'-
phenyl thiourea (MPTU) on the corrosion of 304 SS in 1 N HCl medium has been
investigated by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance
spectroscopy and weight loss methods. The results reveal that MPTU is an
efficient mixed inhibitor with efficiency of greater than 90% at 40ºC. The
adsorption of this inhibitor on the 304 SS surface obeys Temkins adsorption
isotherm, and the inhibition is governed by physisorption mechanism. The influence of parameters like temperature and inhibitor concentration on the corrosion rate
of 304 SS has also been investigated. The thermodynamic parameters deduced for
the adsorption process reveal a strong interaction and spontaneous adsorption
of MPTU on the alloy steel surface.

Authors: Navaneethan, G; Karunakaran, K; Elango, K P
Abstract: A stability indicating
reversed phase HPLC assay method has been used for the simultaneous assay of
piracetam and cinnarizine drugs in hard gelatin capsule formulation. The
separation is achieved by gradient elution using Hypersil BDS C8 column (250 mm

size) with mobile phase (A) consisting of 0.015 M dipottassium hydrogen
phosphate and 2 mL of triethyl amine adjusted at <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:

mobile phase (B) consisting of 2 mL of orthophosphoric acid in 1000 mL of
acetonitrile and with a flow rate of 0.6 mL min-1.
The retention time is found to be approximately 11 min for PR and 51 min for
CN. The analysis is conducted at ambient temperature and monitored using a
diode array UV-Vis detector set at wavelength 205 nm. The proposed method is
found to be specific, linear, accurate and precise for the simultaneous
determination of both the drugs from capsule.

Title: Removal of Cr (VI) by Prosopis cineraria leaf powder—A green remediation
Authors: Sinha, Ruchi; Bhati, Mahendra; Sumit; Lal, Magan; Gupta, Vikal
Abstract: Attempt has been made to study the Cr(VI) adsorption
capacity of Prosopis cineraria leaf
powder from industrial waste water using batch adsorption technique. The
effects of various parameters, such as temperature, pH, adsorbent particle size and initial chromium concentration on
adsorption process have also been studied. The adsorption process of chromium
(VI) has been tested with Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Adsorption
data are well described by Freundlich isotherm with maximum adsorption capacity
of 80% at 50°C, initial metal concentration of 50 mg/L and an adsorbent dosage
of 0.5 g. The adsorption process follows pseudo-second order rate mechanism and
rate constant is calculated at 30°C.

Microwave induced KOH activation of guava peel carbon as an adsorbent for congo red dye removal from aqueous phase

Title: Microwave induced KOH activation of guava peel carbon as an adsorbent for congo red dye removal from aqueous phase
Authors: Singh, Pardeep; Raizada, Pankaj; Pathania, Deepak; Sharma, Gaurav; Sharma, Pankaj
Abstract: The adsorption capacity of activated carbon
prepared from guava fruit peel waste has been studied for congo dye.
The activation process is carried out under microwave radiations in the
presence of KOH. The guava peel based activated carbon (GPAC) and unactivated
carbon (GPUC) have been characterized using Fourier transform infrared
spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The comparative
adsorption behavior of GPAC, GPUC and commercially activated carbon (CAC) has
been studied for the congo red dye removal using batch adsorption experiments.
The non-linear Langmuir and Frendulich isotherm models are used to stimulate
the equilibrium data. The equilibrium data is represented by the
Langmuir isotherm model. The kinetic model shows that pseudo second order kinetics has best fit
to the experimental data (R2>0.90). Thermodynamic studies
conclude that adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic in nature. GPAC
has emerged as efficient adsorbent for congo dye as compared to GPUC and CAC. Further, desorption studies show that 35.74 % of metal
ions can be recovered by desorption in first cycle and adsorbent can be reused.
