Title: A new lipid glycoside from two sinularia species of Andaman and Nicobar Islands†
Authors: Anjaneyulu, V; Rao, P V Subba; Radhika, P; Laatsch, H; Misra, L N
Abstract: The more polar fractions of ethyl acetate
solubles of Sinularia gravis and Sinularia species yield a new glycolipid
and its structure has been deduced as 2-hydroxy-3-(octadecyloxy)-propyl-α--fucopyranoside 1
from its high resolution spectral data.

Title: Two new compounds from Ligularia duciformis
Authors: Gao, Kun; Jia, Zhong-Jian
Abstract: Two new compounds have been isolated from
the roots of Ligularia ducifonnis. Their structures have been established
by spectroscopic studies and by comparison with closely related compounds.

Title: Studies on fused β-lactams: Synthesis, stereochemistry and antimicrobial activity of some new cepham analogues
Authors: Sharma, S D; Saluja, Aarti; Bhaduri, Susmita
Abstract: β-Lactam
ring has been
conveniently grafted onto 2-phenyl-5,6-dihydro-1,3 -thiazine 1 by annelating
it with in situ prepared ketenes to furnish cepham analogues 6-9.
A variety of acids such as menthoxy acetic acid 2, butylthioacetic acid 3,
chloroacetic acid 4 and benzotriazole acetic acid 5 have been
used as mixed sulphonic acid anhydrides for the cycloaddition reaction. All the
compounds have been screened for their antibacterial activities.

Title: Oxazoles : Perturbations by methyl groups
Authors: Rao, B Rajeshwar
Abstract: The effect of methyl groups in oxazoles
has been studied and the perturbations caused on the oxygen and nitrogen atoms have
been rationalized. The Hucke! Molecular Orbital (HMO) method has been used to evaluate
the π-electron densities of all the molecules studied.
