    <title>Some innovations in UV protective clothing</title>

    <description>Title: Some innovations in UV protective clothing
Authors: Bajaj, P; Kothari, V K; Ghosh, S B
Abstract: &lt;span style="font-size:&#xD;
12.0pt;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"=""&gt;With the increasing&#xD;
awareness of dangers posed to human health by overexposure to solar radiation and,&#xD;
in particular, ultraviolet components of radiation, due to the depletion of the&#xD;
ozone layer, efforts have been made to provide sun protective clothing while&#xD;
permitting outdoor activities. The degree of protection offered by such clothing&#xD;
depends on a number of factors. III this paper, an attempt has been made to coalesce&#xD;
the ideas of the various researchers who have developed ultraviolet protective clothing,&#xD;
and to understand the influence of UV rays on the structure and morphology of&#xD;
fibres , fabrics and&#xD;
&#xD;
&lt;span style="font-size:&#xD;
12.0pt;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"=""&gt;fabric assemblies.&#xD;
The effects of humidity, chemical processing. dyeing with reactive/direct/vat dyes&#xD;
on cellulosics and their blends, and finishing chemicals on sun protection&#xD;
factor have also been highlighted.&#xD;

    <description>Title: Chemical modification of jute carpet pile yarns with DMDHEU to improve serviceability of jute carpet
Authors: Rahman, S M Badier; Amin, M N; Mian, M A Jabbar; Baksh, M T
Abstract: Jute&#xD;
carpet pile yarns were treated with DMDHEU (45% solid content) using magnesium&#xD;
chloride as catalyst.&#xD;
Thickness recovery, compression recovery, work of recovery, tuft withdrawal&#xD;
force and moisture content of the treated carpet samples were studied and compared&#xD;
with those of the untreated carpet of the same pile height. The results show&#xD;
improvements in the&#xD;
performance characteristics of the crosslinked jute carpets.

    <title>Optimization of draw frame setting based on cotton single fibre length data</title>
    <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/24905</link>
    <description>Title: Optimization of draw frame setting based on cotton single fibre length data
Authors: Basu, Arindam; Ramakrishnan, N
Abstract: A new method, based on single fibre length&#xD;
data, has been proposed to optimize the roller settings in draw frame. Yarns produced&#xD;
using the settings based on the new method have lower Classimat faults as compared&#xD;
to those produced using the conventional settings. The observed phenomenon is explained&#xD;
in terms of fibre arrangement in sliver.

    <title>Colour matching on wool using natural and synthetic dyes</title>
    <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/24904</link>
    <description>Title: Colour matching on wool using natural and synthetic dyes
Authors: Shukla, S R; Patil, Swati M
Abstract: Wool&#xD;
fabric samples were dyed using natural dyes and mordants singly and in their&#xD;
binary mixtures. Computer colour matching system was used to evaluate these&#xD;
dyeings and generate matching dyeing recipes for synthetic trichromatic acid dyes&#xD;
which are ecofriendly. After dyeing with acid dyes, the natural dyed and acid&#xD;
dyed samples were evaluated for colour&#xD;
&#xD;
differences&#xD;
and it has been observed that in almost all cases, good matchings are observed&#xD;
for the natural dyed wool samples. This indicates that selective classes of&#xD;
synthetic dyes, which exhaust to higher levels and have proven non-toxicity, could&#xD;
be used with due concern to ecology and economy.
