Title: Growth and scatter of alcohol fuel literature
Authors: Kundra, R; Garg, K C
Abstract: <span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:

alcohol fuel literature (1901-1980) in terms of forms of publications, countries
contributing to the field, the type of publications in which the literature is
scattered and correlation between research productivity of an author and
breadth of the research interest, using Alcohol Fuels Bibliography brought out
by the US, Department of Energy. The study reveals that there was a slow growth
in the alcohol fuel literature during 1901-1970; but there was a rapid rise in
literature especially in the use of alcohol as a vehicle fuel presumably due to
oil price hike. It is further noted that this area has not been an area where
publications relate to high scientific activity as most of the articles are
reported in popular journals. The study also shows that in this area there is a
positive and strong relationship between research productivity and breadth of
research interest of the authors.</span>

survey of the document copy requests received at Insdoc during 1980-1985 was
undertaken with a view to identify high use core journals in physics. It was
found that the 113 identified journals out of 2093 physics journals could
satisfy a majority of requests in physics and that it compared favorably with
the rank list of the British Library Lending Division's demand in 1980 and with
the rank list of Science Citation Index (JCR 1984) based on citation count.</span>

Personal collection – Its organisation and maintenance

Title: Personal collection – Its organisation and maintenance
Authors: Dutta, Neeta
Abstract: Presents
the findings of a study conducted with 66 Indian scientists using questionnaire
and personal interview methods as to how they organize their personal
scientific collections. It was found that besides personal notes, published
articles and books, majority of the respondents (53% to 90%) did not possess
any other item in their personal collections.<br>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";="" mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;mso-fareast-language:="" en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="" lang="EN-US"> The methodology of organization was not up to
the mark and easy for satisfactory retrieval of documents. Based on the data
and information provided by the respondents, some workable suggestions have
been provided for organizing personal collections to the best possible level
under the prevailing facilities and circumstances.</span>
