Title: A simple method to estimate nep content in fibres
Authors: Mohamed, A Peer
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The Shirley template method
can estimate nep content only in the fibre web. For measuring the nep count of
fibres at any preparatory stage of a spinning mill, a simple manual counting
method is suggested. This new method applies the same probabilistic model as
used in the Shirley template method.

soap wash on jute/polypropylene blended fabrics reveals that jute fibre
proportion in weft should be below 40% for certain end-uses. On successive

the decrease being greater for textured fabric<span style="font-size:

properties of cotton fabric resin finished using Finish KVSI (a DMDHEU based

(PEG 600) have been studied. The treated samples were dyed with three different

tensile and tear strengths. It has been observed that the dyeability of the
crosslinked (resinfinished) fabric substantially increases in presence of PEG
600. The best results are obtained at the optimum resin conc. of 100 gpl, PEG
600 conc. of 140 gpl, curing temperature of 160°C and curing period of 3 min.

Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;

fabric with the proteolytic enzyme Degummase improves the wettability and
whiteness of the fabric without affecting its strength. The enzyme-treated
fabric absorbs more dye as compared to untreated fabric. Dyeing of spun silk
fabric under alkaline condition gives more uniformly dyed fabric as compared to
that obtained on dyeing under neutral condition. However, dye uptake and dye
fixation are higher under neutral condition.
