chloride (BKC)and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), the two bactericidal
cationic surfactants of the quaternary ammonium group, have been found to
impart high rot and mildew resistance to bleached jute without affecting its
aesthetic appeal. Unlike cotton, BKC- or CTAB-treated jute retains considerable
microbial resistance on leaching. This difference with cotton is due to the
higher absorption capacity of jute which is further enhanced on bleaching.</span>
