    <description>Title: Internet of Things and libraries
Authors: Pujar, Shamprasad M; Satyanarayana, K V
Abstract: Internet has taken a giant leap forward&#xD;
from ‘Internet of communication’ to ‘Internet of Things’, making it possible to&#xD;
connect objects and transfer data with or without human intervention. This is&#xD;
likely to revolutionize the way we live. Like other service industries, it has&#xD;
a huge potential in betterment of library services. An attempt has been made to&#xD;
explain what is ‘Internet of Things’, the technology and its growth, examples&#xD;
from service industries and deliberate on it’s possible impact on libraries and&#xD;
identify potential library areas where it can be implemented effectively.

    <title>Publications of Rabindranath Tagore: A bibliometric study</title>
    <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/32290</link>
    <description>Title: Publications of Rabindranath Tagore: A bibliometric study
Authors: Ray, Partha Pratim; Sen, B K
Abstract: The paper highlights the publication&#xD;
productivity of Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel Laureate poet of India. He has&#xD;
published 199 Bengali books during 1878-1941 and 36 titles were published&#xD;
posthumously making it 235 Bengali books to his credit. In his seventies (the&#xD;
last decade of his life), when he ventured into the world of painting,&#xD;
surprisingly his literary productivity increased considerably instead of going&#xD;
down. He published as many as 55 books apart from producing 2000+ paintings. Tagore’s&#xD;
productivity encompassed all branches of literature, i.e. poems, dramas,&#xD;
letters, novels, essays, songs, travelogues, comedies, short stories,&#xD;
addresses, textbooks and autobiography. His productivity coefficient for&#xD;
Bengali books is 0.84 which indicates that he had a steady publication record&#xD;
throughout his literary career. He has published 91 out of 95 short stories in&#xD;
16 communication channels. Publication density of short stories is 5.69,&#xD;
publication concentration is 12.5 and productivity coefficient for short&#xD;
stories stands at 0.32.

    <title>On curbing the menace of remainder books in higher education</title>

    <description>Title: On curbing the menace of remainder books in higher education
Authors: Jeevan, V K J
Abstract: This study attempts to present the library’s&#xD;
and librarian's view point of dealing with remainder books and sensitise&#xD;
librarians and researchers about the trade in remainder books which enter the&#xD;
market disguised as genuine books and sold as such despite instructions from&#xD;
government, trade agencies and libraries about selling remainders. Based on the&#xD;
available literature on the trade of remainder books, a case study has been&#xD;
attempted in the light of the book acquisition activity of one year for a University&#xD;
Library. Since there is no explicit declaration from booksellers about which&#xD;
titles they supply are remainders, libraries have to resort to indirect options&#xD;
to identify them. It has been observed that over 80% of the books procured in a&#xD;
typical higher education library in the country are in English language. Of&#xD;
these, though 51% of books are either printed in India or priced in Indian&#xD;
Rupees, the remaining 49% of books have prices in foreign currencies. Out of a&#xD;
panel of over 50 book suppliers involved in supplying books of interest to the&#xD;
said Library, it was found that 12 suppliers actively canvassed for more number&#xD;
of books through frequent visits, providing large number of titles on approval&#xD;
for examination and through continuous interactions with teachers. Around 76%&#xD;
of the money spent for purchasing books is canvassed by these 12 suppliers for&#xD;
supplying 51% of the books procured. They supplied 2559 titles in English&#xD;
priced in foreign currencies (around 76% of such cases); out of which 68% only&#xD;
are published in the last four years. It was confirmed that over 32% of the&#xD;
procured books priced in foreign currencies are published at least four years&#xD;
before the year of purchase and some or many of these titles might have entered&#xD;
the country through the remainder route. The publisher never informs libraries&#xD;
about throwing a particular title in the remainder market. Similarly the&#xD;
importer/distributor/bookseller never certifies about the receipt of such a&#xD;
title through that route. It has also been observed that documents to support a&#xD;
remainder title being procured as genuine are made overnight by trade parties&#xD;
as per the demands of individual libraries. Due to the lack of actual data&#xD;
concerning remainder books in the country which the importers, distributors,&#xD;
booksellers and other entities are trying to closely guard from public and&#xD;
libraries, there are not many studies on remainder books deterrent measures to&#xD;
be taken by libraries which is adversely impacting the quality of book&#xD;
collection in libraries.

    <title>A scientometric overview of collaboration pattern in global solar cell research</title>

    <description>Title: A scientometric overview of collaboration pattern in global solar cell research
Authors: Dutt, Bharvi; Nikam, Khaiser
Abstract: Collaborative aspects of research&#xD;
publications pertaining to global solar cell research as reflected in Science&#xD;
Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) for the years 1991, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010&#xD;
have been studied. Using various bibliometric indicators, the study examined&#xD;
the pattern of co-authorship and nature of collaboration with respect to&#xD;
different types of institutions, countries and prolific institutions. It also&#xD;
looked into impact of collaboration in terms of citations. The study observed a&#xD;
peculiar behaviour wherein publication from certain prolific countries and institutions&#xD;
emerging from domestic collaboration resulted in higher impact than those from&#xD;
international collaboration.
