for the determination of percentage of medullated fibres is more precise as
compared to the projection microscope method; 300-400 fibres should be observed
for accurate assessment of the percentage of medullated fibres from wools of
different qualities.

characteristics of Ram bouiliet, Ramb. × Chokla and Chokla wool fibres in water
have been compared after dividing the fibres into five diameter interval
groups. Stresses at 2 and 30% extension and the Hookean slope differ
significantly in groups and breeds, whereas stresses at 15% extension and
breaking stress differ significantly among the diameter groups. There is no
significant effect of breeds and groups on breaking extension.

Title: Production and Characterization of Nylon-6 Filaments Containing Carbon Black
Authors: Datye, K V; Mishra, S; Gupta, V B
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;

containing up to 1.5% carbon black have been prepared using two different
methods, viz. (1) incorporating carbon black in disperse form during
polymerization and melt spinning, and (2) blending the chips containing 1.5%
carbon black, prepared as in (1), with chips without any carbon black (blank)
and melt spinning. The filaments thus produced were examined for their
structure and properties. It has been observed that the samples prepared by
method (1) are more homogeneous and have more uniform properties.

Title: Effect of Preparatory Process Parameters and Machine Conditions on Weaving Performance

speed spooler and the BC high speed warping machine have been compared with the
Rotoconer winding machine and the Cimmco high speed warping machine
respectively in respect of their effect on weaving performance by carrying out
large scale mill trials. The BC spooler shows better weaving performance than
the Rotoconer winding machine due to the higher clearing efficiency of BC snick
plates. The type of warping machine does not influence the weaving performance.
