Title: Scientometrics of cereal crop science research in India as seen through SCOPUS database during 1965-2010
Authors: Tripathi, H. K.; Garg, K. C.
Abstract: The paper analyses publication output of India on cereal crops as reflected by its coverage in Scopus international database during 1965-2010 in gaps of five years. Analysis indicates that highest number of papers (40%) was published on rice, followed by wheat (29%). Agricultural universities and institutions under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were most productive. A significant number of papers were published in journals originating from the advanced countries with low impact factor. The highest number of papers was published in Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, followed by Indian Journal of Agronomy. Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi topped the list among the prolific institutions followed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The major research was focused on ‘genetics and plant breeding’ followed by ‘agronomic aspects’. The authorship pattern reveals that co-authored papers accounted for 94% of total output. Citation analysis of the study reveals that 22% of the papers remained uncited. Most of the prolific authors were affiliated to Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.

Authors: Adeyoyin, Samuel Olu; Idowu, Taiwo A.; Sowole, Adeniyi O.; Fasanu, C I
Abstract: The role of the library has been to develop and maintain collections of materials in all formats in order to serve the information needs of its users. Biographies reveal scintillating story of great men and women who by determination, rose to a pride of place in their various endeavours. Most biographical accounts disclose exemplary acts of boldness and bravery, scholastic endeavours, exhibit considerate leadership qualities, gives firm authentic history of one’s birth, growth, career and so on. Descriptive research design using survey method was adopted for this study. Questionnaire was used as the survey instrument. The study sample comprised 500 randomly selected students from three universities in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study finds that the students preferred reading autobiographies to biographies. In case of biographies, they preferred biographies of the living to the dead. The study concludes that the biographies of notable personalities impact positively on younger generations.

Title: Continuing professional education on digital library in India: a study
Authors: Kumar, Vijendra; Gupta, Dinesh K.
Abstract: The paper examines development of continuing professional education on digital library in India based on the announcement of postings on LIS-Forum related to seminars, conferences, workshops and short-term training programs on digital libraries held in India during April 2003 to October 2015. The paper finds that 73 continuing professional development programs were held on digital library in India during the period. Due to the increasing amount of information available in digital format, education and training for digital libraries has become necessary. There is a need to hold more continuing professional development opportunities on digital libraries in India.
