Activation hardness and sigmatropic shifts

Title: Activation hardness and sigmatropic shifts
Authors: Ray, N K; Rastogi, R C
Abstract: Modes of sigmatropic shifts have been examined from a consideration of the hardness parameters of the transition states. The results obtained are in agreement with the well known Woodward-Hoffmann rules. Change in chemical potential has also been examined
for the reaction path.

Strong metal support interaction (SMSI) state in titania supported iron catalysts-EHMO model cluster calculations

Title: Strong metal support interaction (SMSI) state in titania supported iron catalysts-EHMO model cluster calculations
Authors: Viswanathan, B; Lakshmi, T
Abstract: The phenomenon of strong metal support interaction (SMSI) has been explained on the basis of
clusters of metal particles being formed on the surface of the support which could account for the reduction in chemisorptions capacity after inducement of SMSI state on reduction at high temperatures. Models have been chosen to represent the encapsulation state which could also account for the reduction in chemisorption capacity. The increased hydrogenation activity of these systems is explained on the basis of the orbitals of the clusters which interact suitably with the orbitals of CO in such a manner as to facilitate its dissociation.

Title: Thermochemical investigations of some 2-propanone-tribromomethane-alkane ternary non-electrolytic solutions
Authors: Singh, Prem Paul; Maken, Sanjeev; Malik, Renu
Abstract: Moelywyn-Huggins concept of interactions between the molecular surfaces of the components of a binary mixture [Huggins M L, Polymer, 12 (1971) 389] has been extended to develop an approach reproduces well the molar excess volume VE and molar excess enthalpy HE data of 2-propanone- tribromomethane-n-alkane ternary and their sub-binary mixtures. The ternary VF and HE data, calculated by the present approach, co pare better with their corresponding experimental values the corresponding VE and HE data evaluated for these mixtures by the more involved non-electrolyte associated solution model approach.
