Title: Synthesis of glycoprotein inhibitory agents sinuxylamide A-E
Authors: Annapurna, K; Rao, K Srinivasa; Narsaiah, A Venkat
Abstract: Synthesis of naturally occurring Sinuxylamides A-E has been accomplished. Synthesis started from commercially
available L-tyrosine. The key reactions involved in this synthesis are amide formation, Mitsunobu etherification and ester
hydrolysis.

Authors: Marri, Srinivas
Abstract: Synthesis of novel 5-methyl-1-(4-(6-methylimidazo[1,2-b]isoxazol-3-yl)phenyl)-3-aryl-1,3,5-triazinane-2-thiones 6 has
been achieved by the reaction of 3-amino-5-methylisoxazole 1 with p-nitrophenacyl bromide, followed by reduction of
3 with stannous chloride. Compounds 4 on treatment with different aryl isothiocyanates in refluxing benzene, followed by
trimolecular condensation with 30% HCHO and methyl amine in ethanol affords the title compounds 6. The newly
synthesized compounds 6 have been evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity. Compounds 6 exhibit potent
antimicrobial activity compared to that of standard drugs.

Electrocoagulation for the efficient removal of Eriochrome Black T from wastewater using copper electrodes

Title: Electrocoagulation for the efficient removal of Eriochrome Black T from wastewater using copper electrodes
Authors: S, Mohan; P, Sharath; Nagabhushana, B M; Chikkahanumantharayappa; Shivakumara, C
Abstract: The present study is based on the application of the electrocoagulation process in removal of Eriochrome Black T dye
pollutant. It is found that many factors like voltage, temperature, number of pairs of electrodes, contact time, inter electrode
distance are affecting the electrocoagulation. As voltage is increased from 5 V DC to 30 V DC the removal efficiency
increases linearly and attained 98.3% at 13 V DC and beyond that the removal of dye is constant. The temperature plays
important role in electrocoagulation and maximum removal was observed at 28 °C, at high temperature electrocoagulation
decreases. It is also found that inter-electrode distance of 0.5 cm is more favourable for removal. As the number of pair of
electrodes increases the removal capacity also increases. If there is a rise in concentration of the solution from 10 ppm to
1000 ppm the efficiency decreases from 99.2% to 63.6%. The chemical oxygen demand of the treated solution drops from
1600 to 320 ppm under 13 V DC, 180 s of contact time for 25 ppm of dye solution. The energy consumption, anode
dissolution also plays a crucial role in removal of dye.

Syntheses, spectral, thermal and pH-metric studies on bivalent metal ion complexes of N,N’-bis(3-carboxy-1-oxo-z-prop-2-elenyl)ethylenediamine

Title: Syntheses, spectral, thermal and pH-metric studies on bivalent metal ion complexes of N,N’-bis(3-carboxy-1-oxo-z-prop-2-elenyl)ethylenediamine
Authors: Kumar, Vinod; Mittal, Sachin; Reddy, Malladi J.; Garg, Bhagwan S.
Abstract: A novel carboxyamide ligand has been synthesized using maleic anhydride and ethylenediamine. Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II)
and Pd(II) complexes of the ligand, i.e., N,N’-bis(3-carboxy-1-oxo-z-prop-2-elenyl)ethylenediamine [H2L] have been
prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, electronic, 1H NMR, EPR spectral and thermal studies. It is revealed
by IR and 1H NMR spectral studies that the ligand coordinated to the metal ions through deprotonated carboxylate oxygen
and non-deprotonated amide nitrogen in all the complexes. It is suggested by electronic spectral and magnetic moment
studies that N2O2 coordination is around each metal center with a strong field square planar chromophore. All the complexes
have been studied by TGA and DTA studies done simultaneously. The complex formation between ligand and metal ions
[Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)] has also been studied pH metrically in 75% aqueous DMF solution at 298 K in
0.1 M NaClO4. The probable structures of the complexes have also been proposed.
