    <description>Title: Linear performance assessment of offshore wind turbine jacket substructure with varying brace topology in the Indian Ocean scenario
Authors: Andavar, P; Meiaraj, C
Abstract: Offshore wind energy has become a rapidly growing industry; however, the harsh conditions of the ocean can pose a&#xD;
significant risk to the structural integrity of offshore wind turbine substructures. India's coastal and offshore regions have a&#xD;
high potential for wind energy due to steady winds and minimal obstructions, but the country's offshore wind potential&#xD;
remains largely unexplored. To address this, a study was conducted on a proposed fixed offshore platform in the Gulf of&#xD;
Mannar region of the Indian Ocean, supporting a 10 MW offshore wind turbine at a depth of 75 m. The study aimed to&#xD;
evaluate the platform's structural performance under various environmental conditions, focusing on wind energy&#xD;
development. The study analysed the impact of different bracing configurations, such as X, K, and V bracing systems, on&#xD;
the structural stability of the substructure using the finite element software, Structural Analysis Computer Software (SACS).&#xD;
The study also simulated pile-soil interaction to understand the platform's actual behaviour. Results indicated that the&#xD;
X-bracing configuration outperformed the K and V configurations in terms of overall structural stability. The study&#xD;
highlights the importance of considering environmental load orientations and topology characteristics in marine renewable&#xD;
offshore wind energy projects, as well as the significance of choosing an appropriate bracing configuration to maintain the&#xD;
safety, coastal sustainability and performance of offshore wind turbine substructures in the Indian Ocean.

    <title>Climate resilient coastal protection: A case study of dune nourishment and vegetation at Bhatye, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra</title>

    <description>Title: Climate resilient coastal protection: A case study of dune nourishment and vegetation at Bhatye, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra
Authors: Baba, M; Kurian, N P; Oswin, S D
Abstract: Beaches and dunes are some of the natural mechanisms provided by nature for the protection of the coasts.&#xD;
Re-nourishing the eroded beaches and dunes is widely accepted as a low-cost, nature-friendly coastal protection measure.&#xD;
Such projects are just being initiated for the Indian coastline. A pilot dune nourishment demonstration project, following&#xD;
Climate Change Adaptation Guidelines for India, was attempted at Bhatye in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, India.&#xD;
The pilot project involved the nourishment of a 500 m long eroded dune designed following the Minimum Beach Level&#xD;
(MBL) concept, planting of the dune with native vegetation by involving the coastal community and fencing of the dune for&#xD;
its protection. The dune crest height was 5.5 m above Chart Datum (CD) with slopes of 1:5 on both sides. The sand required&#xD;
for the nourishment was borrowed from a shoal, which was a hindrance to safe navigation to the fishing harbour at the&#xD;
neighbouring river entrance. The restored dune has survived five monsoons and several cyclones since its completion in&#xD;
January 2019. The pilot project has successfully demonstrated that low-cost dune nourishment is a feasible option to prevent&#xD;
flooding of low-lying coastal areas and step up the post-storm dune recovery where aeolian sediment transport is slow.

    <title>Molecular and phylogenetic assessment of foliose Ulva Linnaeus, (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta) in Indian subcontinent</title>

    <description>Title: Molecular and phylogenetic assessment of foliose Ulva Linnaeus, (Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyta) in Indian subcontinent
Authors: Rani, P; Yadav, D S; Kaur, M; Maurya, R K; Bast, F
Abstract: Green algae, Ulva Linnaeus, 1753 (Ulvales, Chlorophyta), is found abundantly in intertidal regions of the coasts.&#xD;
Members of the genus exist in foliose, filamentous, and tubular forms and may be distromatic or monostromatic. This study&#xD;
investigates the phylogenetic distribution of foliose Ulva from various geographical locations in India. The morphological&#xD;
and microscopic features of 20 specimens were studied, and ITS, tufA, 18S, and atpB regions were sequenced using specific&#xD;
primers. BLAST results were used for similarity search and MEGAX for phylogenetic reconstruction using these amplified&#xD;
sequences. A total of 35 sequences were generated and used to trace back the evolution of different species and the effects of&#xD;
geographical locations on the cryptic diversity of Ulva. Also, this study reports the occurrence of Ulva fasciata,&#xD;
Ulva reticulata, Ulva taeniata, Ulva linza, and Ulva ohnoi. A pressed herbarium voucher was prepared for future records of&#xD;
each sample.

    <title>Diversity, temporal abundance, length-weight relationships and condition factors of Lutjanidae from central east coast of India</title>

    <description>Title: Diversity, temporal abundance, length-weight relationships and condition factors of Lutjanidae from central east coast of India
Authors: Swain, R; Patra, S; Kisku, S; Mishra, A; Nayak, L; Patro, S; Mohapatra, Anil
Abstract: Fifteen fish species from the family Lutjanidae were recorded from the Gopalpur fish landing centre, which includes one&#xD;
new record (Lutjanus xanthopinnis Iwatsuki, Tanaka &amp; Allen, 2015) from the Southern Odisha, central east coast of India.&#xD;
This study reports length weight relationship for 11 lutjanid species and for Lutjanus guilcheri Fourmanoir, 1959, the LWR&#xD;
was recorded for the first time from the Indian coast. The ‘b’ value ranges between 2.7 to 3.1. However, the seasonal&#xD;
analysis shows a lower ‘b’ value for L. johnii during pre-monsoon (2.126) and monsoon (2.186), which is probably due to&#xD;
the high number of juveniles in the sample. The mean value of condition factor (K) ranged between 1.36 and 1.84. The&#xD;
comparative analysis of the ‘b’ values of the studied species from different regions of the east coast of India suggests that&#xD;
the overall environmental parameters in the western Bay of Bengal are favourable for their growth.
