Authors: Semwal, R P; Balodi, J P
Abstract: The polarizabilities
of a number of aromatic hydrocarbons and the three fullerenes (C60,
C70 and C84) have been calculated using a new empirical
approach based on the square of the sum of the atomic hybrid components(τ A)
as given by the relation α(abc)= (Å3) where the summation proceeds over
all atoms A= 1,2,3---, and N is the total number of electrons in the molecule. The
geometries have also been optimized.

Title: Spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of cadmium using m-nitrobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene
Authors: Gao, Hong-Wen; Tao, Mei
Abstract: The spectral
correction technique has been applied for the determination of cadmium using m-nitrobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene
(m-NBDA). The composition ratio, real absorptivity and stepwise stability
constant of the Cd-m-NBDA complex have been studied. The ratio of Cd to m-NBDA
is found to be 1:3, its cumulative stability constant is 9.30×1018 and
its real absorptivity

is 1.36×105
mol-1cm-1 at 460 nm. Beer's law is obeyed over the range
of 0 - 25μ g Cd(II)/25ml,
the detection limit of cadmium is found to be 0.006 mg/l and the relative standard
deviation is 4.5%.

Title: Synthesis and spectral studies on chromium(III), manganese(II), iron(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of fourteen-membered and sixteen membered tetradentate macrocyclic ligands
Authors: Chandra, Sulekh; Gupta, Karuna
Abstract: Complexes of
Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with a 14- and 16- membered
macrocyclic ligands have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses,
molar conductance, magnetic moment, infrared , electronic and EPR spectral studies.
All the complexes are found to have six-coordinate geometry and are of the
high-spin type.

Title: Synthesis, reactions, and spectral [NMR(1H,13C, and 29Si), IR] studies of organosilicon aryloxides
Authors: Mishra, Shashank; Singh, Anirudh
Abstract: Organosilicon
aryloxides of the types Me3Si(OAr) and MeSi(OAr)3 (Ar = C6H4Bus
-2; C6H3Me-2-Pr1-5; C6H3Me-5-Prl-2)
have been prepared, respectively, from reactions of appropriate phenols with Me3SiCl
or MeSiCl3 in benzene using Et3N as a base. Reactions of Me3Si(OAr)
with TiCl4 in 1:1 and 2: 1 molar ratios in benzene afford derivatives
TiCl3(OAr) and TiCl2(OAr)2,

respectively.
All these new derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopic
[IR, NMR (1H, 13C, and 29Si)] studies, as well
as by molecular weight measurements.
