Flow injection determination of ultra trace amounts of rhodium(III) with spectrophotometric detection

Title: Flow injection determination of ultra trace amounts of rhodium(III) with spectrophotometric detection
Authors: Ensafi, Ali A; Mansour, H R; Chamjangali, M Arab
Abstract: A flow injection method for determination
for rhodium (III) has been developed based on its catalytic effect on the
oxidation of Nile Blue by periodate at <i>p</i>H 9.20. The react ion was
monitored spectrophotometrically at 630 nm. The effects of reagent
concentration and manifold variables were studied and optimized. The method is
linear in the range of 0.030-30.0 μg.ml-1 Rh(III).The effects of
interfering ions on the determination of Rh(III)

have been studied. The proposed method
has been used for the determination of rhodium(III) in synthetic samples with
satisfactory results.

Macrocycle-selective extractant for Pt (II) from aqueous metal solutions

Title: Macrocycle-selective extractant for Pt (II) from aqueous metal solutions
Authors: Singh, Randhir; Bhattacharya, Amarendra; Sharma, Mamta
Abstract: Dioxodimethyl macrocyclic ligand (A) has
been used for selective extraction of platinum (II) from aqueous metal ion
mixture. This is achieved by utilizing unique complexation properties of
macrocyclic ligand (A) in the presence of sodium thiosulphate and showed very
good results for the extraction of Pt (II).

Synthesis and characterization of some imidazolium complexes of rhodium

Title: Synthesis and characterization of some imidazolium complexes of rhodium
Authors: Borah, Geetika; Bora, Tankeswar
Abstract: Rhodium(III) chloride is found to form
complexes of the types (LH)2[RhCl5L].2H2O,
(LH)2[RhCl4L'2).2H2O and (L'H)[RhCl4L'2],
where L = 2-methylimidazole(2-Melm), 1 ,2-

dimethylimidazole (1,2-Me2Im)
; L' = imidazole (Im), 1-<i>n</i>-butylimidazole (1-<i>n</i>-BuIm). The
compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements,
IR, UV-visible and 1H NMR spectral studies. The compounds have
octahedral geometry with pyridine nitrogen of imidazoles as donor site. Thermal
studies indicate continuous loss of ligands with formation of Rh2O3
above 780°C.

Synthesis and characterization of novel chiral organotin complexes

Title: Synthesis and characterization of novel chiral organotin complexes
Authors: Arjmand, Farukh; Athar, Fareeda
Abstract: Novel chiral
complexes of organotin have been synthesized using amino acids as chiral
auxiliary and 1,10-phenanthroline as a secondary ligand. A series of di-and
tri-organotin (IV) [LSnRnL'] complexes where n = 2 or 3, L=1-amino
acids like tryptophan, leucine and valine and L'= 1,10-phenanthroline, have been
prepared and characterized by conventional methods. Structure elucidation has
been done by IR, UV, 1H, 13C, 119Sn NMR
spectroscopy. All the complexes are air stable and non-electrolytic in nature.
On the basis of spectral evidences, it has been concluded that the carboxylic
acid of the !-amino acid is behaving as a monodentate ligand in all these
complexes and the complexes are octahedral in shape with a coordination number
six around the tin atom.
