Authors: Chauhan, Deepa; Chauhan, J S; Singh, J; Bajpai, S K; Joshi, M N
Abstract: N'-(5-Aryl-1 ,3,4-oxadiazolo-2-yl)-ureas
on cyclocondensation with CS2/KOH afford 2-aryl- 1,3,4-oxadiazole[3,2-a]-s-triazine-5,7-(6H)

Authors: Kalluraya, Balakrishna; Gururaja, R.; Rai, Ganesha
Abstract: Reaction of 6-substituted-2-chloro-3-formylquinoline
1 and 3-substituted-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole 2 gave the
novel thiadiazepine derivatives 5 rather than expected Schiff bases 4.
Alternatively, compounds 5 were also prepared by the reaction of 2
with 6-substitutcri quinolones 3. The structures of the newly synthesized
compounds have been proposed on the basis of elemental analysis, IR,1H
NMR and mass spectral data. Some of the

new synthetic compounds were also
screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. Most of them showed significant
activity.

Synthesis and biological activity of some new benzophenothiazines

Title: Synthesis and biological activity of some new benzophenothiazines
Authors: Pandey, V K; Negi, H S; Joshi, M N; Bajpai, Ms S K
Abstract: Condensation of carboxylic acids with thiosemicarbazide
in presence of conc. H2SO4 gives 2-amino-5-aralkyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles
1 which on diazotization afford 5-aralkyl-1,3,4-

thiadiazolyl-2-diazonium chlorides 2.
Reaction of 2 with cold solution of β-naphthol
in dilute
NaOH furnishes α-(2-diazo-5-aralkyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolyl)-β-sodionaphthoxides
3 which on

acidification with conc. HCl gives α-(2-diazo-5-aralkyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolyl)-β-naphthols 4. Reaction of 4 with p-anisidine gives
α-(2-diazo-5-aralkyl-1,3, 4-thiadiazolyl)-β-(p-anisidino)
naphthalenes
5. Fusion of 5 with sulphur in presence of iodine results in 1-(2'-diazo-5'
-aralkyl-1',3',4' -thiadiazolyl)-6-methoxy benzophenothiazines 6 in yields
varying from 48% to 59%. The new compounds 6 have been screened for their
antiviral and antifungal activities.
