Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">White crystalline solid of
di-m-chloroanilinium sulfate (di-m-CIAS) was obtained when m-chloroaniline and cone sulfuric acid
were mixed together in the ratio of 1:1 or 2: 1 at room temperature. Thermal
decomposition of di-m-C1AS gave two
isomeric chloro aminobenzene sulfonic acids (sulfonated products) and kinetics
for the same was evaluated using both isothermal and non-isothermal TG data.
Di-m-C1AS seems to decompose by N-H
bond heterolysis prior to sulfonation.

normal orientation (N) has been
conducted on pin-on-disc machine under dry sliding conditions. The influence of
variables such as sliding distance, load, velocity, abrasive grit size has been
investigated. It was observed that fibre orientation has a significant
influence on tribological performance of the polymer composites. An increased
friction and wear Was observed for parallel fibre orientation than normal fibre
orientation. The dependence of the wear rate on the fibre orientation is
difficult to model in a quantitative manner.

High stress wear studies on addition of polycarbonate in red mud filled isotactic polypropylene

Title: High stress wear studies on addition of polycarbonate in red mud filled isotactic polypropylene
Authors: Chand, Navin; Hashmi, S A R
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">Effect of addition of
polycarbonate (PC) on abrasive wear resistance of red mud (RM) filled
polypropylene (PP) composites has been studied. Different volume fractions of
PC have been incorporated in RM filled PP. Structural changes of samples were
studied by using X-ray diffraction technique. Characteristic intensity peaks of
PP have been reduced on addition of polycarbonate. Wear losses at different
loads have been evaluated for various blend compositions. Wear loss increased
with the increase of PC contents in PPIPCIRM composites up to 30 wt%,
thereafter wear loss decreased due to morphological changes in composites.
Effect of load variation and sliding distance on wear characteristics of blend
composites have been measured and discussed based on the observations of worn
surfaces.
