Title: Use of minimized light mode patterns in shadow-casting system for optical parallel logic operations in the enhanced edge of image
Authors: Roy, J N; Mukhopadhyay, S
Abstract: Optical shadow-casting technique
(OST) is one of

the methods of using optical
signal in computation.

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:" times="" new="" roman","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The fundamental requirement
of shadow-casting technique is the choice of particular switching states of
input LEDs (light emitting diodes) for a specific logic operation. In this
communication we propose a method of implementing all the possible logic
operations particularly in the detection of image edges by the way of pattern
recognition. For that a minimized pattern of the On-state light modes will be
used to ensure the logic operations in the images edge. The detected image edge
becomes enhanced here also for that structure of light mode pattern. This
enhanced edge of the image may cover all the possible logic operations.

Authors: Barui, K L; Bhattacharya, B
Abstract: A quality assessment procedure
based on fracture

mechanics approach is
analytically developed for the

assessment of the most probable
defect detected by

the NDT techniques in the case of
K-<span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:" times="" new="" roman","serif";mso-bidi-font-style:="" italic"="">type butt
welds.

The critical defect size and the
maximum allowable

initially existing sub-critical
defect size which may

grow to the critical size during
the designed service

life are computed. These
assessments are very much

 helpful
for the realistic evaluation of the component.

Title: Post-critical behaviour of a cantilever column subjected to combined tip-concentrated and uniformly distributed follower force
Authors: Rao, B Nageswara; Rao, G Venkateswara
Abstract: The solution of the title problem which involves the
interaction of two load parameters, is obtained by following a simple and reliable iterative numerical
scheme and established an empirical relation between these two load parameters.

material under internal steam pressure when used as a boiler tube.
