Photochromic Reactive Dyes with Monochlorotriazine for Dyeing Nylon Fibres

Title: Photochromic Reactive Dyes with Monochlorotriazine for Dyeing Nylon Fibres
Authors: Shan, P H; Patel, (Miss) R G; Patel, V S
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";="" mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" new="" roman";="" mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;="" mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;mso-fareast-language:="" en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">Some novel reactive photochromic dyes containing
mercury (II)-dithizonate moiety were synthesized from p-[(4, 6-
dichloro-s-triazine-2-yl)amino]phenylntercur(II)dithizonate by using
different aromatic amines and naphthalene intermediates for dyeing nylon
fibres. The dyed fibre showed poor to good fastness to light, very good to
excellent fastness to rubbing, and poor to good to very good fastness to
washing. The dyed fibres on exposure to bright sunlight or a light source of
suitable wavelength showed a very good photochromic effect giving various
shades. When the fibres were/removed from sunlight the colour returned to the
original shade. The duration required for this return depended on intensity of
incident light, ambient temperature and moisture content of fabric.

Effect of Pre-heat-setting on Colour of Polyester Fabrics Dyed with a Disperse Dye

Title: Effect of Pre-heat-setting on Colour of Polyester Fabrics Dyed with a Disperse Dye
Authors: Jahagirdar, C J; Venkatakrishnan, S
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";="" mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" new="" roman";="" mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;="" mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;mso-fareast-language:="" en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The effect of pre-heat-setting, at different
temperatures and durations, of polyester fabrics dyed with a disperse dye
(Dispersol Red B-3B) on dye uptake. dye penetration and the final colour of the
fabric was studied. Variation in dye uptake was due to the variation in tension
developed during heat-setting and structural changes. Colour measurement was
found useful for predicting the optimum temperature duration of heat treatment
and limits of variation tolerable for heat-setting a particular fabric with a
particular dye. A new method is suggested for predicting the dye uptake from Δ E
(total colour difference from the standard white).
