Title: Performance of Rabbit Hair Blended Speciality Fibre Yarns
Authors: Patni, P C; Gupta, N P; Arora, R K; Singh, U S
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The fibre properties of
rabbit hair, being produced under Indian agro-climatic conditions, are compared
with those of Mohair, Cashmere and wool. The performance of rabbit hair and its
blends with Hybrid-4 cotton and Avivastra wool on cotton system of processing
has also been assessed. It is observed that processing of rabbit hair and its
blends on cotton set of machinery is possible with the aid of some suitable
antistatic agent. Rabbit hair-cotton blends show high breaking stress, which
may be attributed to the closer fineness and length of these fibres.

processing performance of ramie-polypropylene blends on jute rove spinning
system have been studied. It is observed that 75/25 ramie-polypropylene blend
yarn is stronger than all-ramie or all-Proplon yarn. The use of finer denier
Proplon fibre in the blend gives higher yarn strength.

and aggregate spontaneously and irreversibly on storage. Polyacrylamide gel
electrophoresis in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate shows that the
soluble protein consists mainly of two components. The calibration curves for
molecular weights/electrophoretic mobilities are presented. The main components
from the plasmolysed wool have molecular weights 44,000 and 58,000 daltons.
Their amino acid compositions have been determined; electron microscopy shows
that they form fibrous aggregates.
