Title: Study of Bending Characteristics of Knitted Fabrics Using Cantilever Method Authors: Arora, R K; Parthasarathy, S Abstract: Bending characteristics of some fabrics knitted from Indian half-bred sheep wools and their polyester wool blends have been studied using the cantilever method. The bending results obtained by the cantilever method are compared with those obtained by the Heartloop method [Arora, et al., Indian J Text Res, 6 (1991) 28]. Page(s): 27-28

Fibre Fineness of Some Corriedale Crossbred Sheep Wools

Tue, 01 Mar 1983 00:00:00 GMT

Title: Fibre Fineness of Some Corriedale Crossbred Sheep Wools Authors: Patni, P C; Bapna, D L; Parthasarathy, S; Gupta, V K Abstract: Fibre fineness characteristics of Corriedale, Nali and Gaddi sheep wools and wools of Nali and Gaddi sheep crossbred with Corriedale have been studied. Statistical analysis establishes that Corriedale and Corriedale x Gaddi sheep wools may be pooled together with regard to fineness. Similarly, Gaddi and Corriedale x Nali sheep wools may be pooled together. Crossbreeding improve the fineness and reduces the percentage medullation. Page(s): 25-26

Surface Studies on Amine-treated Polyethylene Terephthalate Filaments

Tue, 01 Mar 1983 00:00:00 GMT

Title: Surface Studies on Amine-treated Polyethylene Terephthalate Filaments Authors: Chand, Navin Abstract: The surface structure (up to top 50 A) and morphology of oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibres etched with ethylamine have been studied by ESCA and SEM. The peak intensities of the carbon Is levels and oxygen Is levels of the treated fibres are significantly different compared to those for the undrawn PET fibres. The effect of amine degradation at different draw ratios has been examined. Page(s): 23-24

Assessment of Crease Recovery Values of Textile Fabrics by Different Instruments

Tue, 01 Mar 1983 00:00:00 GMT

Title: Assessment of Crease Recovery Values of Textile Fabrics by Different Instruments Authors: Subramanian, S; Phalgumani, G R; Manjunatha, B R; Sitaram, M S; Shringarpure, A W; Bhatt, I G Abstract: A comparative evaluation of the crease recovery angles of textile fabrics measured using three different crease recovery testers, viz. Monsanto, Metrimpex and Shirley, has been made to assess the recovery characteristics of textile fabrics in the true sense. The effect of different factors like load, loading/relaxation period, sample size crease length and spacer (particularly used in the Monsanto method) on the crease recovery values has also been studied. It has been observed that the evaluation of commercial samples cannot be made by the Monsanto method, as the measured angles in this case do not represent the true values. However, both the Metrimpex and Shirley testers do furnish equivalent values according to the basic physical principle of property measurement, Metrimpex tester could be used preferably, provided certain precautions are taken, as it enables measurements for more than one specimen at a time, as against the Shirley tester which can handle only one specimen. It is recommended that the standard method of determination of crease recovery values of textile fabrics should involve the formation of crease/wrinkle as per the basic physical principle without any spacer to measure the recovery values in the true sense.
