amylase produced by the culture Bacillus subtilis-159 as a desizing
agent has been compared with that of three commercially available amylases. The
enzyme is stable and active at 60°C. It can remove 94% size with enzyme
strength of 700 units/100 ml This isolate could, therefore, be exploited for
the production of amylase.

temporary set in textured polyethylene Terephthalate yarn, rendering the crimp latent,

internal structural factors and interfilament contact forces.

Structural Dependence of Young's Modulus of Polyethylene Filaments

Title: Structural Dependence of Young's Modulus of Polyethylene Filaments
Authors: Gupta, V B; Ray, N D; Khanna, P N; Somashekar, T H
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">High density polyethylene
filaments having different degrees of orientation and structures were prepared
by heat-setting cold-drawn (drawn at 80°C) filaments. On the basis of the
results of structural and mechanical studies conducted on these filaments, an
attempt bas been made to correlate the measured values of the Young's moduli
with structural parameters. It has been found that using a simplified one-phase
model, the Young's modulus of the cold-drawn filaments can be related
approximately to molecular and to a reasonable extent to crystallite
orientation. Young's moduli of the filaments heat-set subsequent to cold-drawing
do not show such a correlation. The possible reasons for these differences are
discussed.
