Title: Between and Within Bale Variations in Testing of Fibres of Indian and Foreign Cottons
Authors: Govindarajulu, K.; Krishnaswamy, N.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;

within bale variations while testing cotton fibres have been studied for five
Indian and five foreign varieties of cotton. Based on these variations, a
sampling scheme has been evolved and confidence limits have been specified. The
error involved In uniformity ratio of fibre length has been worked out. The
effect on cleaning efficiency of using shorter method for assessing trash
content has been discussed. The variations obtained in testing the various
fibres, characteristics have been compared with those reported from the
American Society for Testing and Materials, United States Department of
Agriculture and some other agencies.</span>

Title: Studies in Dyeing of Polyamides : Part II-Thermal Exposure of Nylon Filaments in the Presence of Cationic Dyestuffs
Authors: Achwal, W. B.; Nagar, M. R.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The effect of thermal
exposure on cationic dyed nylon filaments and filaments modified by blocking
the amino groups has been investigated. The presence of cationic dyestuff has
been found to confer some protection on nylon against fibre degradation. When
amino groups in nylon are blocked prior to dyeing, the extent of protection
afforded to fibre degradation is higher. Prior blocking of amino groups was
also observed to retard the thermal fading of cationic dyes.</span>

Title: Studies on Structure and Properties of Low Twist Wet Spun Cotton Yarns
Authors: Sengupta, A K; Singh, V P; Iyer, B V
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">The structure and
properties of low twist wet spun cotton yarns have been studied and compared
with those of normal ring spun yarns. It is observed that even at a low twist
level, wet spinning produces a much stronger yarn than ring spinning. The
strength is further enhanced on dew axing followed by swelling in sodium
hydroxide. The packing and clustering of wet spun yarns are considerably higher
and the yarns exhibit poorer migration. The rate of strength loss on abrasion
is higher for wet spun yarns compared to normal yarns, signifying poorer
abrasion resistance of wet spun yarns.</span>
