A Direct Reading Spindle Speed Meter

Title: A Direct Reading Spindle Speed Meter
Authors: Kalyanaraman, A. R.; Sridhar, U.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">A simple, inexpensive and
direct-reading spindle speed meter has been designed and fabricated. The
accuracy and reproducibility of measurements made with the meter are comparable
to those obtained with the stroboscope. The potential industrial applications
of the meter, besides its use in spindle speed measurement, are indicated.</span>

Estimation of Nitrogen Content of Resin Finished Fabrics by Infrared Spectroscopy

Title: Estimation of Nitrogen Content of Resin Finished Fabrics by Infrared Spectroscopy
Authors: Venkatesh, G. M.; McCall, E. R.; Tripp, V. W.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">Migration of resin during
drying has been found to affect the balance of crease recovery and useful wear
life of resin finished fabrics. To understand the phenomenon of resin migration
better, fabrics have been crosslinked with DMDHEU by different processes and
their physical properties have been studied. In this study, an attempt has been
made to characterize the resin finished fabrics from their infrared spectra. The
relationships obtained suggest that the nitrogen content of resin finished
fabrics can be estimated easily and accurately from their infrared absorption
spectra.</span>

A Theoretical Study of Yarn Irregularity through the Spectrum

Title: A Theoretical Study of Yarn Irregularity through the Spectrum
Authors: Narasimham, T.; Ganesh, K.; Kothari, N. R.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">Yarn irregularity may be
thought of as the sum of three components: the periodic, the totally random and
the quasiperiodic variations. A spectral decomposition of these components
gives more information about yarn irregularity than the variances alone.
Methods for such decomposition have been suggested. Examination of the spectra
of some yarns has indicated considerations to be taken into account when
proposing a model for the arrangement of fibres in yarns.</span>

Title: Response of Cotton Fibres to Anticrease Chemical Finish-A Varietal Study by X-Ray Diffraction Method
Authors: Pai, B. Tara; Panda, B. C.
Abstract: <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:115%;
font-family:" calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:="" "times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;mso-hansi-theme-font:="" minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"times="" roman";mso-ansi-language:en-us;="" mso-fareast-language:en-us;mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"="">A technique based on the
principles of X-ray diffraction has been developed for assessing the response
of cotton fibres to easy-care finish. The method is useful for varietal
screening of cotton fibres. Out of 26 cotton samples tested by this method, the
tensile strength of three samples (B-1007, SB-289 and SB-1085-6E) was found to
increase as a result of treatment with an anticrease finishing chemical.</span>
