<title>Pigments in mangrove species of Pichavaram</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/37530</link>
<description>Title: Pigments in mangrove species of Pichavaram
Authors: Oswin, S Deiva; Kathiresan, K
Abstract: Monthly variations in pigments in leaves of 8 mangrove species were determined. Pigment concentration varied between plant species and period of analyses. Pigments were high in species of Rhizophoraceae family. Chlorophylls and carotenoids were high during May to July, flavonoids during July-September and anthocyanin during October and November.

<description>Title: Occurrence of Elysia grandifolia (Mollusca, Gastropoda), and its radionuclide content from Tarapur coastal waters, west coast of India
Authors: Balani, M C; Patel, B
Abstract: Occurrence, morphological-features, feeding habits, metal and radionuclide content of an opisthobranch sacoglossan Elysia grandifolia Kelaart have been reported. Mn was highest in E. grandifolia whereas Zn was most abundant in eggs. Radionuclide I-131 was most abundant in tissues 1.4 Bq.g-1 dry weight and in eggs 0.8 Bq.g-1 dry weight. Radionuclide Co-60 in eggs was, 1.0 Bq.g-1 dry weight and in tissues, 0.08 Bq.g-1 dry weight. Possibility of using the species and eggs as indicators for I-131 and Co-60 radionuclides in the marine environment is discussed.

<title>Amino acid composition of marine green alga Caulerpa scalpelliformis (Chlorophyta)</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/37528</link>
<description>Title: Amino acid composition of marine green alga Caulerpa scalpelliformis (Chlorophyta)
Authors: Dave, M J; Parekh, R G
Abstract: Free and combined amino acids were estimated in Caulerpa scalpeliformis (R.Br.) W.V.B. collected from Okha port of Saurashtra coast along the north-west coast of India. About 22-25 amino acids were, detected in free form of which 21 were quantitatively estimated in combined form. Rare compounds like gamma-aminobutyric acid, ornithine and cysteic acid were detected or estimated. Tryptophan and above mentioned amino acids are rarely reported for Indian marine algae.

<title>Growth inhibition of periphytic diatoms by methanol extracts of sponges and holothurians</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/37527</link>
<description>Title: Growth inhibition of periphytic diatoms by methanol extracts of sponges and holothurians
Authors: Mokashe, S S; Garg, A; Anil, A C; Wagh, A B
Abstract: Crude methanol extracts of a holothurian Holothuria leucospilota, and two sponges Craniella sp. and Ircinia ramosa were tested for their inhibitory effects on the growth of two marine diatoms, Navicula subinflata and Navicula crucicula, by diatom plating method. Populations of both the diatom species expressed in terms of total chlorophyll-a values were found to be adversely affected by all the 3 test extracts. Ircinia ramosa extract amongst these exhibited maximum inhibitory effect on the growth of the diatoms.
