<title>Biochemical changes in different tissues of the mantis shrimp, Oratosquilla nepa (Stomatopoda) during reproductive cycle</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/37697</link>
<description>Title: Biochemical changes in different tissues of the mantis shrimp, Oratosquilla nepa (Stomatopoda) during reproductive cycle
Authors: Reddy, H R V; Shanbhogue, S L
Abstract: Maturation in Oratosquilla nepa, evaluated by visual and biochemical observations, showed that gonado somatic index (GSI) increased from immature to mature stage but declined at spent stage while the hepato somatic index (HSI) did not change significantly. During maturation protein, lipid and carbohydrate contents of the ovaries increased while in the hepatopancreas the biochemical constituents decreased. In males, these changes were less pronounced. Tn the muscle tissue, no noticeable changes occurred in both the sexes.

<title>Growth and mortality estimates of a sciaenid Johnieops sina (Pisces/Perciformes) from Bombay waters</title>

<description>Title: Growth and mortality estimates of a sciaenid Johnieops sina (Pisces/Perciformes) from Bombay waters
Authors: Chakraborty, Sushant Kumar
Abstract: Growth and mortality in J. sina-based on the length frequency data collected during 1987-90 were computed. von Bertalanffy's growth parameters in length were estimated as L infinity = 239 mm, K = 0.777 (per year) and t(0) = -0.03814 y. This species attained 132 and 192 mm at the end of Ist and 2nd year of its life respectively. Fishery was supported mostly by zero and 1 y class individuals. The instantaneous rates of total, natural and fisihing mortalities were 4.35, 1.76 and 2.59 respectively. The exploitation rate and ratios were same (0.59).

<title>Ecology of the rock oyster, Saccostrea cucullata (Bivalvia: Ostreidae) at Band Moalem coast along northeastern Persian Gulf</title>

<description>Title: Ecology of the rock oyster, Saccostrea cucullata (Bivalvia: Ostreidae) at Band Moalem coast along northeastern Persian Gulf
Authors: Roustaian, Paymon
Abstract: Oyster population in Band Moalem area had a unimodal size frequency distribution in which small individuals were scarce and adults dominate. The population density of S. cucullata was estimated to be 132.m(-2). Abundance of the oysters within different parts (lower, middle and upper) of the mid intertidal area (oyster zone) showed a significant difference. Average shell size (as dorsoventral measurement) was 39.5 mm. Sex ratio was calculated to be 0.86(n=595). Shell size and sex ratio did not differ significantly in the different parts of mid intertidal area.

<title>Distribution of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Pondicherry coastal environs</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/37692</link>
<description>Title: Distribution of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Pondicherry coastal environs
Authors: Velammal, A; Aiyamperumal, B; Venugopalan, V K; Ajmalkhan, S
Abstract: Distribution of P. aeruginosa in water, sediment and finfish collected from fish landing site of Pondicherry coast was studied during April 1989 to March 1990. P. aeruginosa was in high numbers in water, sediment and finfish samples during the postmonsoon season (January-March), not detectable during premonsoon (August and September) and early monsoon season (October) in water and sediment. Among finfish samples, it was not detected during late monsoon (December). It was isolated from sundried and salt cured fishes also.
