Title: Haematology of ten pounder, Elops saurus (L.), a euryhaline fish from Visakhapatnam Harbour Authors: Rani, K Usha; Rao, K Srinivasa Abstract: Haematological parameters like total RBC count (2.2 million/mm³), total WBC count (0.175 million/mm³), haemoglobin content (7.84 g/100 ml) and differential counts of various blood cell types were studied. Some fish showed deviations from the normal values and these aberrant values were found associated with anaemic condition of the fish. Page(s): 119-121

Title: Effect of low oxygen concentration on respiratory movements of Balanus tintinnabulum tintinnabulum (L.) Authors: Rao, D G V Prasada; Rao, Y Prabhakara Abstract: At low oxygen concentrations (3, 2.5, 2 and 1.5 ml O₂/litre), hypoventilation has been observed in the respiratory movements of B. tintinnabulum tintinnabulum. A critical oxygen concentration is found at 3.5 ml O₂/litre below which the respiratory movements show a decline. Extremely low oxygen concentrations (1.5 ml O₂/litre) induce anoxic arrest of the respiratory movements with the complete closure of the operculum. Page(s): 115-117
