      <description>Title: Synthesis, crystal structure, luminescent, and photocatalytic properties of a uranyl(VI)-organic framework based on tripodal flexible zwitterionic ligand
Authors: Meng, Yuning; Niu, Fei; Zhang, Xiaolin; Liu, Donghui; Lan, Qiaofa; Yang, Youming
Abstract: The uranyl-organic framework based tripodal flexible zwitterion ligand 1,1',1''-[benzene-1,3,5-triyltris(methylene)] tris(pyridine-4-carboxylic acid) tribromine (H3LBr3), [(UO2)2(μ3-O)(μ2-OH)L]NO3·nH2O (n ≈ 5) (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Compound 1 contains a tetra-uranyl oxo-cluster, which displays a microporous 3D structure. The fluorescence measurement shows that 1 exhibits strong luminescence. Furthermore, 1 shows good photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue.

      <title>Microwave synthesis, characterization and biological activities of transition metal complexes with novel SNSN donor Schiff base ligand</title>

      <description>Title: Microwave synthesis, characterization and biological activities of transition metal complexes with novel SNSN donor Schiff base ligand
Authors: Devi, P R Sagunthala; David, S Theodore; Joel, C; Bennie, R Biju; Abraham, S Daniel
Abstract: A novel Schiff base (E)-N-(pyridine-2-yl)thiophen-2-ylmethylene)hydrazine carbothioamide (L), has been synthesised&#xD;
by the condensation of thiophen-2-carbaldehyde and 4-(pyridin-2-yl)-thiosemicarbazide, using solvent free microwave&#xD;
synthesis. The Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the Schiff base are also prepared. They are characterised by&#xD;
elemental analysis, EI-mass spectrum, 1H &amp;13C-NMR spectrum, FTIR, UV-vis spectra, magnetic, EPR spectra and thermal&#xD;
analysis. The “SNSN” donor ligand binds the metal ion in tetradentate mode through thiophenyl and thioenolic sulphur&#xD;
atoms and imino and pyridine nitrogen atoms. The electronic spectra along with magnetic measurements demonstrate&#xD;
tetrahedral geometry for Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes, and square planar geometry for Cu(II) complex. All the&#xD;
complexes are found to be thermally stable from thermogravimetric studies. The complexes show enhanced antibacterial&#xD;
activity than the ligand against various bacterial strains. The BSA binding activity of the complexes shows that the affinity&#xD;
for binding is greater towards copper complex. The cytotoxicity of the ligand and its complexes are tested on HT29 colon&#xD;
cancer cells using MTT assay.

      <title>Synthesis, characterization, biological activities of Schiff base metal(II) complexes derived from 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 3-aminoquinoline</title>

      <description>Title: Synthesis, characterization, biological activities of Schiff base metal(II) complexes derived from 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 3-aminoquinoline
Authors: Karthik, Somasundaram; Gomathi, Thulasimani; Vedanayaki, Subramaniam
Abstract: A new Schiff base ligand (E)-2,6-dimethoxy-4-((quinolin-3-ylimino)methyl)phenol (HL) and its Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II)&#xD;
and Zn(II) metal complexes have been synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic (UV-visible, IR, NMR and&#xD;
mass), SEM and magnetic susceptibility measurement. The ligand (HL) have been synthesized by condensation of&#xD;
4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 3-aminoquinoline. Based on electronic spectral data and magnetic susceptibility&#xD;
measurement the tetrahedral geometry is proposed for all the complexes. The ligand and metal complexes are screened for&#xD;
their antimicrobial activities against bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli) and antifungal activity against the&#xD;
fungi (Candida albicans). Further, the ligand and its Cu(II) complex are also screened for anticancer activity on human&#xD;
breast (MCF7) cancer cell lines by the MTT assay method. Interestingly, Cu(II) complex shows better anticancer activity&#xD;
than the free Schiff base ligand. The in vitro anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic activities of the ligand and Cu(II) complex&#xD;
are studied. The Cu(II) complex show higher inhibition activity than that of the free ligand.

      <title>Novel Co(II) metal complexes of N, O donor salicyloylpyrazoleoxime Schiff bases: synthesis, spectroscopic studies and antimicrobial evaluation</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/58516</link>
      <description>Title: Novel Co(II) metal complexes of N, O donor salicyloylpyrazoleoxime Schiff bases: synthesis, spectroscopic studies and antimicrobial evaluation
Authors: Dhokale, N T; Nagawade, A V
Abstract: Five novel mononuclear Co(II) chelate complexes derived from salicyloylpyrazoleoximes have been synthesized and&#xD;
characterized using elemental analysis, spectroscopic methods (UV-visible, IR, 1H NMR) and thermal analysis. The&#xD;
elemental analysis suggests that the Schiff Base Co(II) complexes have 1:2 stoichiometry. The spectroscopic determination&#xD;
suggest the complexes are square planer and the Schiff base coordinate to Co(II) metal through imine nitrogen and phenolic&#xD;
oxygen. All synthesized complexes are stable, non-hygroscopic, non-electrolytic and amorphous in nature. Most of the&#xD;
ligands and Co(II) complexes possess moderate antimicrobial activity against the test bacteria.
