      <description>Title: Evolution of modern age drug discovery of lipopeptides and computer-aided drug discovery in India
Authors: Yadav, Manisha; Eswari, J Satya
Abstract: The endeavor has been attempted to present a review on the evolution of modern age drug discovery in India. The&#xD;
contribution of next generation therapeutics options microbial metabolites and the computational drug discovery aspects to&#xD;
the global market from India have been represented. Microbial metabolites such as lipopeptides and peptide therapeutics are&#xD;
gaining worldwide importance due to their multiple applications as broad-spectrum antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer&#xD;
properties etc. Due to the surge of microbial resistance, tumor resistance, and ongoing pandemic due to constantly mutating&#xD;
corona virus, there is a need to develop next-generation therapeutics options from natural origin, less toxic to the&#xD;
environment, and have higher specificity towards target. Small molecule therapeutics are certainly less specific towards&#xD;
cancer targets hence the cytotoxicity is a major issue in cancer treatment while drug resistance due to the mutations are&#xD;
coming as challenges every day for drug discovery researchers. Microbial lipopeptide reserves a sweet spot in between the&#xD;
small molecule inhibitors and peptide therapeutics because of their amphiphilic compounds consist of a fatty acid side chain&#xD;
and a cyclic peptide moiety of hydrophilic nature. The computational drug discovery approach accelerates the drug&#xD;
discovery process due to the advancement in supercomputer facilities provided by various funding agencies such as the&#xD;
Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in India. The current review&#xD;
article is focusing light on the research contribution of Indian Scientists and Govt. of India in the field of lipopeptide-based&#xD;
research and applications of Computer-aided drug discovery.

      <title>Versatility of berberine as an effective immunomodulator and chemo sensitizer against p53 mutant cell</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/59774</link>
      <description>Title: Versatility of berberine as an effective immunomodulator and chemo sensitizer against p53 mutant cell
Authors: Singh, Priyanka; Yadav, Monika; Niveria, Karishma; Verma, Anita Kamra
Abstract: Cancer is the leading cause of death among individuals due to its poor prognosis. Various therapeutics treatments are&#xD;
available in form radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy but major point of concern is the treatment of cancer&#xD;
resistant cell lines. Homozygous loss of the p53 gene is virtually present in every type of cancer. Mutation in DNA binding&#xD;
domain of p53 leads to formation of mutant forms having altered amino acid sequence which lacks DNA binding activity.&#xD;
Berberine is chemo-sensitizing isoquinoline quaternary alkaloid molecule obtained from Berberis vulgaris. Berberine has&#xD;
the capability to suppress the growth of broad range of tumors. It exhibits pharmacological, biochemical and anticancer&#xD;
properties which can potentiate the activities of the existing therapeutics available in a way that it can re-sensitize the cancer&#xD;
resistant clones. Berberine has an immanent potential to bind with DNA and can communicate with several cellular targets,&#xD;
further it also shows hormetic effect which refers to biphasic dose response curve in order to determine dose dependent&#xD;
stimulatory and inhibitory effect. Mode of action involved is yet not well understood but mechanistic pathway involved are&#xD;
autophagy, up-regulation of tumor-suppressor gene (p53) and epigenetic alterations in the viral DNA. In this review,&#xD;
versatility of berberine can be utilized ideally or in combination with chemotherapeutics drugs to potentiate chemo&#xD;
sensitization of the resistant cancer cell line. Further, cancer cell specific receptor targeting can also be employed in&#xD;
combination with berberine for therapeutic treatment of metastasizing cancer cells.

Authors: Gade, Ramya; Dwarampudi, L Priyanka; V, Vijayanandhan; R, Shanmugam; Dharshini, S Priya; Raj R, Krishna
Abstract: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a multifactorial endocrine disorder which is characterized by chronic anovulation.&#xD;
Irregular periods, hirsutism, weight gain are the other signs of PCOS. The prevalence of PCOS worldwide is between 6%&#xD;
and 26% while in India it was 3.7% to 22.5%. PCOS is the most prevailing female endocrine disorder and the preeminent&#xD;
cause of infertility. Risk factors that contribute to the development of PCOS include genetics, neuroendocrine system,&#xD;
sedentary lifestyle, diet, and obesity. Modern medicine has found many ways to heal. Synthetic drugs such as metformin and&#xD;
oral contraceptive pills were available in the market, but because of their side effects, people depend on traditional and&#xD;
herbal medicines. This review provides a detailed approach to different types of traditional and natural systems for the&#xD;
treatment and management of PCOS. Different approaches to managing PCOS include the traditional system of drugs,&#xD;
herbal remedies, herbs, and Phyto-ingredients that have proven their potential in treating PCOS. Traditional medicine&#xD;
includes Unani, Ayurveda, Siddha, naturopathy, yoga, and homeopathy. In addition to treatment, yoga also has potential in&#xD;
treating PCOS.

      <title>Global research trends of interleukin-6 in SARS-CoV-2 infection</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/59772</link>
      <description>Title: Global research trends of interleukin-6 in SARS-CoV-2 infection
Authors: Parchwani, Deepak; Trivedi, Dharmendra; Bhatt, Atul; Dholariya, Sagar; Chaudhari, Shanti P; Pathak, Manohar
Abstract: IL-6 levels are significantly elevated in COVID-19 patients and are associated with poor clinical outcomes. Inhibiting IL-6 is thought to be a unique therapeutic strategy for the control of dysregulated host responses in SARS-CoV-2. The present study focuses on evaluating the research productivity of IL-6 level in SARS-CoV-2 infection using various bibliometric indicators and analysed 4510 research papers related to IL-6 levels in SARS-CoV-2 from the Scopus database and VOS Viewer tool applied for visualization. The results revealed that ascendant trends in the publications and USA, China and Italy have secured top three position in numbers of publications. Study observed that “Dagna L.” received top prolific author rank. Article entitled “Clinical features of patients infected with 2019 novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China” received maximum of 15364 total citations, whereas “Frontiers in Immunology” and “Journal of Medical Virology” secured in top two highly productive journals in the subject with extreme link strength. With regard to organisation, “Tongji Medical College-China” reported highly dynamic organization. “COVID-19”; “SARS-CoV-2”; “Interleukin” received maximum occurrences with high link strength. In view of global mounting public health issue of COVID-19, primarily due to increased viral transmissibility and associated cytokine storm, the present study will helpful for the medical professionals to know the research trends and also library authority for updating collection development policy in the specific subject domains.
