      <description>Title: Syntheses and characterizations of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde amino acid Schiff base reductive amination compounds
Authors: Jiang, Yu-Rou; Su, Dan; Wang, Mu-Zhao; Jia, Ai-Quan; Zhang, Qian-Feng
Abstract: Condensation of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde with five amino acid compounds (valine, glycine, leucine, aspartic acid, and&#xD;
glutamic acid) gives the corresponding Schiff bases, which upon treatment with sodium borohydride afford the reductive&#xD;
amination products 1−5. Compounds 1−5 have been well characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopic techniques, in&#xD;
addition to X-ray crystallography, from which the structure of compound 2 has been established. Compound 2 crystallizes in&#xD;
monoclinic space group P21/c, with a = 12.215(8), b = 8.096(5), c = 10.608(7) Å, β = 115.324(7), and Z = 4.

      <description>Title: Synthesis of new complex [Bi6O6(OH)2](ClC6H4SO3)4 and investigation of its thermal decomposition
Authors: Kaloyanov, Nikolay; Zahariev, Alexander; Parvanova, Veneta; Avdeev, Georgi; Girginov, Christian
Abstract: A new [Bi6O6(OH)2](ClC6H4SO3)4 complex is synthesized through a reaction of Bi2O3 with aqueous&#xD;
4-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid at elevated temperature. The product composition is elucidated by elemental analysis, ICP-OES&#xD;
and FTIR techniques. By means of XRD analysis, the compound’s indexation, monoclinic P2(3) space group and unit cell&#xD;
parameters: a=31.25(3) Å, b=19.78(1) Å, c=8.795(8) Å, γ = 94.33(4)o as well as a cell volume = 5424.21 Å3 are determined.&#xD;
Based on DTA-TG technique, three specific temperatures aimed at studying product’s thermal decomposition are determined.&#xD;
The compositions of solid residues after isothermal heating are proved following the XRD and FTIR data.

      <description>Title: Impact of host-guest complexation between norfloxacin and -cyclodextrin on fluorescence quenching: Steady-state and time resolved fluorescence study
Authors: Padhan, Prabhati; Sethi, R K; Panda, S N; Behera, P K
Abstract: The behaviour of host-guest interaction of the drug i.e. norfloxacin (NFX) with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) has been investigated by the fluorescence quenching method in acidic and neutral pH using copper as a quencher at various temperatures. The stoichiometry of the host-guest complication has been estimated using the Benesi−Hildebrand relationship. The incorporation of NFX inside the cavity of β-CD is revealed by fluorescence anisotropy and fluorescence lifetime measurements. The effect of temperature on the Stern-Volmer quenching constant (KSV) and binding constant (K) has been analyzed, and the type of quenching was confirmed from the fluorescence lifetime measurement. Using van’t-Hoff equation and Gibbs-Helmholtz equation, thermodynamic parameters like change of enthalpy (ΔH), entropy (ΔS) and free energy (ΔG) have been determined. The negative value of ΔH and the positive value of ΔS validate the hydrophobic interaction between drug and quencher, and the negative value of ΔG suggests that the complex is spontaneous in nature.

Abstract: A series of novel (1-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl-2-acetamido-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f] benzo[f]chromene-3-&#xD;
carboxylate 6a-i compounds have been synthesised from prop-2-yn-1yl-3-acetamido-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-&#xD;
carboxylate 5. 3-Amino-1-phenyl-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitrile and 2-amino-4-phenyl-4a,5,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-4Hchromene-&#xD;
3-carbonitrile (1 and 2a) are generated when benzaldehyde, β-naphthol, (or) cyclohexanol, and malononitrile are&#xD;
incorporated into the mixture. Activity of two conventional antibiotics, Chloramphenicol and Amphotericin-B, have been&#xD;
compared to the antibacterial and antifungal properties of the prepared synthetic compounds. A study has been conducted on&#xD;
the spectroscopic properties of Schlenter products
