      <description>Title: Annals of Library and Information Studies: Some reflections and future directions
Authors: Gupta, Dinesh K.; Satija, M. P.
Abstract: The Annals of Library Science was started by the erstwhile INSDOC with S R Ranganathan as its founder editor in the year 1954. Its name was changed to Annals of Library Science and Documentation in the year 1964. Again, it was renamed as Annals of Library and Information Studies in 2001. Over the years the journal has attained a reputation as one of the top Indian LIS journals which is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. There are many studies undertaken (mainly bibliometrics) on the journal which proves its stature and popularity among the LIS professionals in India and abroad. The present paper makes reflections on its long history, editorial journeys, and prominent studies conducted on it. Finally, looking through a crystal ball, an attempt has been made to see the journal from a futuristic perspective.

      <title>Critical analysis of journal inclusion practice in the UGC-CARE list: A case study of Group-1 Kannada language journals</title>

      <description>Title: Critical analysis of journal inclusion practice in the UGC-CARE list: A case study of Group-1 Kannada language journals
Authors: Raju, Narayanaswamy Vasantha; Adakawa, Murtala Ismail; Harinarayana, N.S.
Abstract: The aim of this research is to investigate the journal inclusion practices of the UGC-CARE list, particularly Group-1&#xD;
Journals in the Kannada Language. Group-2 journals are indexed in globally recognized databases such as Web of Science,&#xD;
Scopus, etc. Journals indexed in Group-1 category are mainly Indian journals published in various Indian languages. Group-&#xD;
1 has 10 Kannada language journals. The Proceeding of Andhra Pradesh History Congress resides outside the scope of the&#xD;
Kannada language that, necessitated its exclusion from the study. Since the data coding on the analysis protocol developed&#xD;
by the UGC is not publicly available, the researchers used the UGC-CARE list website to refine the data and add other&#xD;
quality indicators to align with the standard practice of journal analysis. The study found that only 3 out of 9 journals&#xD;
provide PDFs of back volumes. Similarly, only five out of nine journals show the table of contents (ToCs) of the latest&#xD;
issues on the UGC-CARE list website. Furthermore, none of the journals have eISSNs. This indicates that most of the&#xD;
journals are print-based publications. Two Kannada language journals, Anikethana, and Hosa Manushya, do not have&#xD;
ISSNs. The study concluded that unless the UGC-CARE and publishers address the challenges identified and bring out&#xD;
relevant policies, Group-1 journals are of less value to the scholarly and public community.

      <title>The formation of the subject Cell Biology from the perspective of linguistics: An analytical study</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62325</link>
      <description>Title: The formation of the subject Cell Biology from the perspective of linguistics: An analytical study
Authors: Maity, Debabrata; Dutta, Bidyarthi
Abstract: Cell Biology (CB) deals with the structure and function of cells, and it is an important branch of biology. A total of 1918&#xD;
keywords were extracted from the titles, abstracts, and objects’ captions of 25 top-cited research articles in the domain of&#xD;
CB, and they were linguistically analyzed. It is found that CB is closely interrelated with Chemical Sciences, Medical&#xD;
Sciences, and Biological Sciences, and the mode of formation of CB is distillation of Kind 2—expanded.

      <title>Some issues in the Shodhganga – A theses repository from India</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62324</link>
      <description>Title: Some issues in the Shodhganga – A theses repository from India
Authors: Tapaswi, Murari P.
Abstract: Shodhganga theses repository, a cooperative effort between universities and INFLIBNET has a digital collection of over&#xD;
460000 theses. Metadata from Shodhganga on the theses on Marathi literature was downloaded to study the trends in this&#xD;
area of knowledge. While carrying out this study, many flaws in the metadata and relevant files on Shodhganga were&#xD;
noticed. Time lag in the submissions of theses by the participating Universities, duplicate records for one document, nonadherence&#xD;
to the cataloguing standards while entering metadata, absence of abstracts and apt keywords for the document&#xD;
being described, attributing theses to wrong departments/subject areas, garbled text in metadata and files, identification of&#xD;
similarity between items conferred with a degree and inconsistencies in the rendering of full-text file names and linking&#xD;
incorrect documents were noticed. This study showcases such specific examples from within the repository and suggests&#xD;
some solutions and reccomendations to avoid the flaws in the repository.
