      <title>Thermo-regulative finish on polyester blend knitted fabric</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62741</link>
      <description>Title: Thermo-regulative finish on polyester blend knitted fabric
Authors: Arjun, Dakuri; Hayavadana, J; Prakash, C
Abstract: The study is focused on the thermal comfort properties of single jersey materials. Three types of fabric blends, viz.&#xD;
polyester/modal, polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose, are selected. The selected fabrics are initially pretreated (scoured) to&#xD;
remove the impurities and then padded with a thermo-regulating finish (HeiQ Adaptive AC-06) at 2%, 4% and 6% concentrations.&#xD;
The coated materials are then characterized for geometrical properties and functional characteristics. The polyester/modal fabric&#xD;
coated with 6% finish concentration exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, and thermal absorptivity&#xD;
characteristics.

      <title>Modelling and prediction of visual-haptic perception in textiles</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62740</link>
      <description>Title: Modelling and prediction of visual-haptic perception in textiles
Authors: Rakhin, KV; Onkar, Prasad S; Hayavadana, J
Abstract: The study examines the contact and non-contact assessment of textile modalities under three task conditions, namely&#xD;
visual, haptic, and visual-haptic combination. A comparative analysis shows that the cues perceived by flattened fabrics are&#xD;
insufficient to stimulate the perception of softness during the purely visual condition. At the same time, the spatial&#xD;
deformation caused by the action significantly stimulates the perception of softness in the purely haptic state. While in the&#xD;
visual-haptic dual condition, the spatial deformation causes a folding formation that stimulates the perception of softness by&#xD;
matching the visual and haptic cue information. The study outcomes are theoretically defined as Perceptual Conflict of&#xD;
Interest (PCI), which further focuses on the PCI model of fabric perceptual prediction. Accordingly, this study also discusses&#xD;
different concepts of sensory cue tracking and their impact on cloth modality assessment.

      <title>Comparison of characteristics of fabrics produced from singed and unsinged dyed yarns</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62739</link>
      <description>Title: Comparison of characteristics of fabrics produced from singed and unsinged dyed yarns
Authors: Ramaiyan, Saravanan Alwar; Sundaramoorthy, Subramanian
Abstract: The effect of removal of different levels of comber noil, while preparing yarn, singeing and dyeing of yarn, on quality of fabric has been studied. The dyed yarns produced from singed and unsinged cone yarns, which, in turn, are produced with different levels of removal of comber noil have been converted into fabric. The pilling resistance, drape, and low-stress mechanical properties of fabric samples are studied. The fabrics produced from singed yarn possess higher pilling grades. The singeing of yarn increases the drapability of the fabric. The fabric produced from singed yarn shows a higher total hand value as compared to that of the fabrics produced from unsinged yarns. The results show that the removal of more amount of comber noil to produce yarn with lesser imperfection at the ring cop yarn stage does not necessarily result in the fabric with better pilling resistance and handle, whereas it can be achieved by the singeing process.

      <title>Optimisation of mechanical and functional properties of needle-punched nonwoven filter through fibre denier specific carding parameters</title>
      <link>http://nopr.niscpr.res.in/handle/123456789/62738</link>
      <description>Title: Optimisation of mechanical and functional properties of needle-punched nonwoven filter through fibre denier specific carding parameters
Authors: Dixit, Priyal; Ishtiaque, S M
Abstract: An attempt has been made to highlight the significance of the carding parameters (feeder speed, cylinder speed and&#xD;
doffer speed) required for fibre of different deniers for regulating the structure and ultimately the properties of the nonwoven&#xD;
fabric. A three-factor three-level Box-Behnken factorial design has been employed to analyse and optimise the carding&#xD;
parameters. The work focuses on the comprehensive exploration of the functional properties in the light of nonwoven fabric&#xD;
structures. Regression models of nonlinear process are developed to establish the relationship between specific properties of&#xD;
nonwoven fabric and structural indices. The optimised carding parameters specific to fibre denier result in improved&#xD;
filtration performance of the nonwoven fabric having lower values of fabric thickness, mean flow pore size and pressure&#xD;
drop, besides acquiring higher filtration efficiency.
